UMES Hawks 8-13 4-6 @ Mississippi Valley Delta Devils 7-14 3-7 Feb 14, 2020

It was close the first half. ended with them up 30-27. They pulled away in the second half and took it 73-60. FT shooting was our big problem again. We only hit 12 of 23 52%. They hit 28 of 31 90%

Kevin Brittian PG was top scorer for us. He had 17 pts 5 rebs

UMES Hawks 8-14 4-7 @ North Alabama Lions 10-12 5-6 Feb 17, 2020

Our road trip to North Alabama turns out well. We led most of the game. we led by as much as 21 but they made something of a comeback in front of their fans. Final Hawks 93 Lions 82. We finally had a good ft shooting day hitting 24 of 30

Lamont Butler C was player of the game. He had 19 pts 5 rebs 3 asts and 1 stl. He has been the source of much of our ft trouble but he went 5-6 from the line. For the season he is hitting .338.

V Conf Standings

SIU Edwardsville 10-2 17-6
Mass-Lowell 9-3 12-11
Grambling 8-4 16-7
Howard 7-5 8-15
Central Arkansas 7-5 12-11
Longwood 7-5 15-8
Alabama A&M 7-5 11-13
Chicago State 6-6 7-16
Presbyterian 5-7 9-14
Mississippi Valley 5-7 9-14
Maryland E Shore 5-7 9-14
North Alabama 5-7 10-13
Houston Baptist 5-7 10-13
Incarnate Word 4-8 8-15
Alcorn State 4-8 8-15
Arkansas-PineBluff 2-10 4-19

We have no chance to finish .500 now but at least we have have a good chance to finish solidly in the middle of the conference with 3 of our last 4 games at home and it apoears we will meet our boards goal of not finishing last as we are 3 ahead of Ark- PB who appears destined to become the lowly independent team

Incarnate Word Cardinals 8-15 4-8 @ UMES Hawks 9-14 5-7 Feb 21, 2020

One of our better performances offensively and defensively. We shot well and shut them down. We shot well (for us) from the line hitting 22-29. We are now tied for 8th with 3 games to go. Ark-PB lost today (now 2-11) so we have met the board's goal of not finishing last in conference.

Bevon Gray SG was Player of the game. 17 pts 7 rebs 5 asts 3 stls 1 blk

Presbyterian Blue Hose 10-14 6-7 @ UMES Hawks 10-14 6-7 Feb 24, 2020

Another good performance. We were in control the entire game. We led 42-24 and cruised to a 76-54 victory. We only turned the ball over 9 times which I believe us our low game of the year.

Lamont Butler C was player of the game. 12 pts 5 rebs 1 blk

We are now 7-7 in conference and tied with Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas for 7th. We have 2 games left but they are tough ones. We play SIU Edwardsville there and then Grambling at home. SIU is in first with a 12-2 conference record. Grambling is 9-5 and tied for second.

I'm waiting for the time when my AD states his goal as: "I don't care what you do, but PLEASE just win at least one game this season."

UMES Hawks 11-14 7-7 @ SIU Edwardsville Cougars 19-6 12-2 Feb 28, 2029

All in all we didnt play a bad game against the conf front runner except we had too many turnovers (22 to their 14). They took a 10 pt lead into the Half. We didnt lose any ground the second half but we couldnt gain any either. Final Cougars 80 Hawks 70

Kevin Brittian PG had our best game: 13 pts 6 asts 5 rebs 2 stls

Grambling Tigers 18-8 10-5 @ UMES Hawks 12-14 8-8Mar 3, 2020

Final game of the schedule. We shot well, played good defense and outrebounded the Tigers. .The first half was tight but we were able to pull away in the second half 81-66

Scoot McKnight PF was named player of the game. I believe this is his first time. He had 8 pts 4 rebs 3 asts 5 stl 2 blks.

So we end up with an 8-8 conf record right in the middle of the pack.

We face Central Arkansas in the opening round of the conf tournament
