1/26: 8-10, 4-5 Illinois is here. Other team that's better outside, but they rebound well. 1-2 vs. Top 25 teams.

1/27: We score the first 11. Up 9 after 10. The bench is short and it shows. Big run puts us up 53-27 at the break. 11 for sub F/C Trev Meil. Only 1 TO. +12 in the paint. Up 21 with 10 left.

91-60. We definitely moved to the wrong conference. Should have gone to the ACC.

20, 6 for Meil, 14, 5 for fellow sub F/C Brad Gain. 10, 7, 4 for Pane, who is showing his versatility while we have injuries. He started our last game at SF and this one at SG and played reall well both times.

Only 5 TOs. +14 in the paint.

1/31: 6-13, 3-7 Minnesota is here. They score 61.4 a game.

Wie is back.

Shay Webb is #12 on the Norton list and Aus Howe is #19. I think they're both underrated!

2/1: We start slowly and fall behind. Down 5 after 10. 34-33 at the half. We are not playing well. -8 RBs, +8 in the paint. 2 TOs to 15. Getting out shot 35.1% to 52.4%. I try to wake them up in the locker room. We'll see what happens. We go on a run to start the 2nd. Up 18 with 10 to play.

84-52. HUGE 2nd half, 50-19! 18, 9, 3, 4 for Tony, 13, 2, 6, 7, 3 for Pane, 17 for Webb. 3 TOs to 23, +22 in the paint.

Owen Pane: I really like that I'm getting my chance. I think I'm showing coach that I can play. Hopefully when Howe heals I'll still get good minutes.

2/2: At 8-14, 2-9 Rutgers. We score 16 more a game and give up 10 fewer.

2/3: We fall behind early. Down 9 after 10 to a really lousy team. Up 40-39 at the half; we came back but it's a game, which it shouldn't be. 11 for Pane, 9, 4 for Tony. Only 2 TOs, +12 in the paint. They're shooting better. Up 5 with 10 left. We need a run!

80-77. They missed an open three at the buzzer. This was FAR from our best effort.

20, 5, 4 for Pane, 14, 7 for Gard, 12, 8 for Hasi, 11, 9 for Tony but 4 fouls.

+8 RBs, +14 in the paint.

We need Howe but he'll miss 3 more games.

No serious accidents or injuries in then holos since the new rules went into effect. The mandatory training has really helped.

3 up in the loss column with 9 to play.

2/5: #14 Wisconsin, 18-7, 10-3, is here. They're one of the two teams 3 games back. 3-3 vs. ranked teams. They score mostly outside.

2/6: Close early. Up only 2 after 10. A late run puts us up 15. We just seem to wear people down. 14 for Pane. +12 in the paint, +11 on 2nd chances. Up 22 with 10 left.

80-46. Terrific D again. The only way we'll lose in this conference is if we have a really off night against one of the better teams.

24 for Pane, 19, 7, 3, 3 for Gard. +12 RBs, 12 fewer TOs, +24 in the paint.

We're 23-1, 12-0. 4 teams have 4 losses. Still ranked #2, NET #1.

2/9: At 16-7, 6-6 Indiana. Their PG has back issues, not sure how much he'll play. They're 2-3 vs. Top 25 teams.

2/10: We score the first 9. Up only 2 after 20 as they came storming back. Tied at the half. We're definitely being challenged. 11 for Webb, 8 each for Pane and Hasi. The stats are pretty even across the board. Tied with 10 to go; this is a game!

87-81. That was the biggest margin in the 2nd half.

15, 11, 5 for Tony, 20, 3, 3 for Webb, 16, 10 for Hasi, 12, 3, 7 for Pane. -16 for the bench. Slight edges in the key stats categories.

Our Rec Director, Kelly Geer, has started a contest. Over the next month people will be asked to visit all 20 dining halls and to answer a poll with their 3 favorites, in order. At the end the #1 hall will be awarded a plaque. Naturally, my department will collect and compile the poll. That's what we do!

2/12: At 17-6, 9-4 Maryland. We score more, give up fewer and get about 10 more RBs per game, but they're tough at home.. This is a big game for them as they're in a virtual three way tie for 2nd.

Howe may get a few minutes tonight.

Webb is #15 on the Norton list.

2/13: Close early. Down 3 after 10. 50-40 at the half after a late mini-run. 11 for Webb. They're shooting 50% but we're shooting 61.5%. Not a lot of D by either side. They have 2 starters in foul trouble. Up 10 with 10 to play.

81-71. They got it to a one possession game 3 times but we finally rallied.

13, 10, 3, 6, 3 for Tony, 19 for Webb, 12, 5 for Gard.

+12 in the paint, 10 fewer TOs.

Aus Howe is back and Shay Webb goes down with a minor leg injury; he'll miss at least one game.

I've been to all of the dining halls multiple times as Hali, June, and I like to mix it up. Our favorite is Delhi Home on Deck 7.

2/16: Ohio ST, 14-8, 7-6, is here. We won by 18 there. They're 3-3 vs. ranked teams but lost their last 3.

2/17: Big early lead. Up only 5 after 10 as they come back. 53-34 at the half. We're having no trouble scoring. 16, 6 for Tony. Up 19 with 10 left.

84-60. A sluggish 2nd half but we held them off and were never threatened.

24, 9 for Tony, 15, 6, 5 for Pane. +16 RBs.

Webb is back! Pane did a terrific job, and he will get more minutes.

2/19: Rematch with #19 Iowa, who we beat by 13 at their place. They're 20-6, 11-4. We need to control their outside game, as we did last time.

We're now ranked #1!

2/20: Insane! 19-0 after 10 minutes! 41-19 at halftime. 11 for Howe, 8 and 8 for Tony, 9 for Gard. +24 in the paint. Up 18 with 10 to go.

72-46. And this was against the 2nd place team in the conference! We've clinched. 5 game lead, 4 to play.

15, 12 for Tony, 19, 4 for Gard, 11, 6, 9, 5 for Howe, 11, 2, 7, 3 for Webb.

+11 RBs, 11 fewer TOs, +34 inside.

LOTS of interest in the dining hall contest. I voted Li Chi on deck 12 as my #2, and Taste of Napoli on deck 13 as my #3, barely beating out Spice of India on deck 4. I'm not sharing what the data shows, at least for now. Rec. Director Kelly Geer feels that might prejudice people's votes.

2/21: At 12-15, 7-10 Penn ST. We won by 21 at home. They score 19 less per game than we do.

2/22: Early lead again. They come back. Up only 1 after 10. Down 34-36 at the half. -8 for the bench. It is definitely an off night. I'm trying to wake them up in the locker room. We take the lead right out of the gate in the 2nd half. They come back. Up only 1 with 10 to go.

73-65 but they made us work for it, and we were NOT sharp.

21, 1, 2, 6 for Webb, but 4 TOs, and Howe had 6. We had 19, which may be a season high. 15, 6 for Hasi, 13, 7, 4 for Howe. -14 for the bench. +10 in the paint.

We'll take the win.

The dining halls are really outdoing themselves. They all want to be recognized in the contest. The food here is always great but right now it's out of this world, to make a bad pun!

2/23: 10-16, 4-13 Purdue is here. We won by only 9 there. We are a huge favorite.

2/24: Early lead. Up only 5 in a very slow paced game so far. 37-23 at the half. 12, 6 for Webb, 9 for Pane. Up 13 with 10 to play.

84-59. Yet another walk over. 21, 7, 2, 3 for Webb, 14, 4, 3, 3 for Pane, 10, 10 for Tony, 11, 3, 7 for Howe.

9 TOs, much better than our last game! +17 on 2nd chances.

Owen Pane has the flu. He's day to day.

“So Kelly, why didn't you start this contest on the first of the month?”

“I thought of it, then I liked it so much I wanted to start it immediately.”

“I guess that makes sense. 80% of the people on board have already voted and the contest runs until March 10.”

“I love how much enthusiasm this is generating!”
