3/6: We play #9 seed Fordham, 11-17, 9-9, in the play in. They won by 6 there, then we won by 23.
3/7: 75-73. We led all the way but almost let it slip away from us at the end. 16, 9 for PF Dal Well, 13, 7, 4 for SF Jon Hays.
#1 seed ST Louis, 15-13, 12-6, in the quarters. Beat them by 12 at our place, but they are a 3 ½ point favorite.
3/8: 68-63. Deliberate game. 24 lead changes, 12 ties. Joe Hend had 7 points and 5 RBs in the last 2 minutes, and that won it for us. He led us with 26 and 8. Dal Well had 15 RBs.
#4 seed ST Bonnie, 19-11, 11-7, in the semis. We won by 5 at our place. This one is “Pick ‘em.”
3/9: 85-75. 19, 7 for Hays and great team play.
#3 seed Duquesne, 18-12, 11-7, for the title. They won by 11 at our place, and they’re favored by 1 ½.
3/10: 87-78. Frankly, I’m shocked. GREAT play throughout the tourney. 19, 7, 3 for Hays, 17, 6, 6 for PG Cory Patt, 13 each for Hend and Well. Amazing!
22-11, A10 champs but only #66 RPI so it won’t be a great seed.
3/12: #13 Midwest. We play #4 seed, #6 ranked Gonzaga, 27-6. Ouch! We need to contain their outside game to have a chance.
3/16: 79-89. We gave it all we had. 19, 12 for Hend but he only played 23 minutes before fouling out. 19 for Hoge.
4/3: #1 Arizona is the champ.
4/4: Awards: Junior Joe Hend is A10 POY and 1st team along with frosh Ben Hoge. Senior Dal Well and soph Jon Hays make the 2nd team. I get Conf. COY.
4/23: I ask for a budget increase. Got $10,500.
22-12, .647. 79.9 PPG (#91).
