11/27: 4-0, #2 ranked, #4 RPI. All 4 games were against ranked teams, 2 in the top 10. Preo looks good. We’re getting lots of points outside but way too many TOs. I’m not going to mess with the lineup for another week or two.

Both recruits sign.

12/11: 7-0. #1, RPI #1. TOs getting better but still too many. Looking at the lineup.

Wims gets Rice’s minutes as a sub guard. Fein gets most of Mill’s minutes.

12/25: 9-0, #1, RPI #1. +22.9 PPG (#10, #9), +23.4 RBs (#1), +2.8 TOs (#81). SG Andy Mosh leads us with 17.8 PPG. PG Sam Wite gets 13.3, PF Brad Preo gets 13.2. Matt Fein leads in RBs with 12.1,

Den Dean hurt his shoulder.

1/1/2135: 11-0, 2-0. We drop to #2. Duke, with 2 losses, is ahead of us. Our PI is higher. I don’t get it.

1/15: 14-1, 5-1, #1, RPI #1. #13 Wisconsin beat us there, by 5. Too many TOs, too many fouls.

1/29: 18-1, 9-1. #1, RPI #1. One up on Michigan ST, 2 on two other teams. +24.8 PPG (#1, #4), +25.1 RBs (#1), +2.0 TOs (#52). Brad Preo is #20, Andy Mosh #22, and Matt Fein #24 on the Norton list.

3 more games against ranked teams, all at home.

2/12: 21-1, 13-1, #1, RPI #1. 1 game up on #10 Michigan ST, 3 or more on the rest. Brad Preo is #19, Matt Fein #20 on the Norton list.

2/26: 26-1, 17-1, #1, RPI #1. We win the Big Ten by 4 games. +24.0 PPG (#1, #3), +23.7 RBs (#1), +2.2 TOs (#45).

Heading for the post season. Anything other than a national title is a failure of a season.

3/5: Brad Preo, Andy Mosh and Arn Hart go pro.

3/7: We play #8 seed Iowa, 17-13, 8-10, in the quarters.

3/8: 93-67. 30, 6 for Mosh, 17, 8 for Fein.

#4 seed, #14 ranked Wisconsin, 23-7, 12-6, in the semis. They’re the only team to beat us so far this season, but then we beat them by 21 at our place.

3/9: 85-61. After an early scare we settled down and took over. 19, 9 for SF Waha Baro, 19, 5 for Preo.

#3 seed, #8 ranked Ohio ST, 25-7, 13-5, for the title. Beat them by 38 at our place.

3/10: 86-71. We never trailed. 27, 4, 3 for Mosh, 23, 14 for Fein. +13 TOs.

29-1, 17-1, #1, RPI #1. We should be #1 overall again.

3/12: #1 East and overall. We play #16 Bethune-Cookman, 19-12.

3/16: 71-55. We never trailed but they were pesky. 23, 7 for Mosh.

#8 Wichita ST, 23-7, in the 2nd round.

3/18: 86-47. Easy win. 19, 11 for Baro, 16, 4, 6 for PG Sam Wite, 12, 14 for sub Den Dean.

##5 seed, #9 ranked Georgia Southern, 29-6, in the Sweet Sixteen. On paper it shouldn’t be close, but if they hit a lot of threes…

3/23: 80-58. 17, 17 for Preo, 18, 11 for Baro, 16 for Mosh.

#3 seed, #17 ranked conference rival Michigan ST, 22-10. Beat them by 10 and 13.

3/25: 82-59 and back to the Final Four. 24, 15 for Preo, 20 for Mosh, 13, 11 for Fein.

We play #2 ranked Duke, 32-5, in the national semifinal. Beat them by 16 at home in November. They have great outside shooters and a terrific Center.

4/1: 88-75. We were up 1 at the half. We scored 51 in the 2nd, hitting everything we threw up. 28, 8 for Fein, 19, 5 for Mosh, 17, 8 for Preo.
#12 ranked Fresno ST, 29-7, for the title. On paper it’s not close. They have an outstanding Center but we’re better at every other position and our bench is much better.

4/3: 72-60 and our 4th national championship! We trailed by 15 with 13:22 to play. I used my next to last time out, raised hell in a major way, reminded them of a couple of things and watched as my guys took charge. 25 for Mosh, 17, 12 for Preo. +14 RBs, +8 TOs. It’s nice to win another title! I am the 5th coach to win 4 NCAA championships, so I’m in good company!

4/4: Awards: Brad Preo is Final Four MOP. I am National COY. In the Big Ten, Andy Mosh and Brad Preo make 1st team. Senior Matt Fein makes 2nd team. None of them are returning.

4/23: I ask for facilities. No.

35-1 and the national title. Overall, 667-160, .807.

Murders continue to increase. There is a great deal of concern about that while, at the same time, the gun lobby works to make gun ownership easier, and more sophisticated and powerful guns available.

The anti-reproductive rights groups are also making a lot of noise. Two of their law suits have made it to the courts and both were defeated.

5/1: #4 recruiting class, #1 in the early polls.

6/5: 3 spots for transfers.

6/9: We go after a PF from Dayton.

6/12: We don’t get him.

6/26: 6 scholarships due to the fact that three guys left the program and three graduated. We want 3 bigs, 3 guards.

8/7: C Mike Mill is #13 and PG Mike John #14 on the Norton list.

8/21: We offer to a PG, an SG, an SF, 2 PFs, and a C.

9/11: We lose 2.

9/18: Got 3, lost 2. Got a PG, #7, an SF, #11, an SG, #25. Three to go.

Coaches Classic vs. Montana.

9/25: We get one, lose one. We get a C, #34.

10/2: We get one, lose one. We get a PF, #50. Hoping to land a guard.

1st day of practice and we’re picked to repeat in the Big Ten.

11/6: 7 man rotation:

Al Gure, a soph transfer from UCLA is at PG. Frosh Mike John starts at SG, subs at PG. Soph Bob Wims subs at SG.

Junior Sam Wite is at SF, but frosh Ken Wann subs there and at PF and is fighting for a starting spot.

Senior Mike Mill starts at PF, subs at C. Junior Waha Baro is at C.

Many of the cases involving gun rights and reproductive rights have now been ruled upon by the courts. One case, heard in a deep south district, sided with gun rights
activists. It will be appealed to the Supreme Court. All of the others favored the current laws.

11/13: 74-53 over #16 seed Montana in the opening round of the Coaches Classic. D was excellent but we didn’t flow on offense. 14, 18 for C Waha Baro, 14, 4, 3 for PG Al Gure. +10 RBs, 10 TOs.

#9 seed UAB in the 2nd round.

11/15: 84-51. 20, 5, 6 for SG Mike John, 17 each for Gure and SF Sam Wite. +18 RBs, 8 TOs.

#12 seed Southern Illinois in the semifinals. All the top seeds have been upset except for us.

11/17: 91-63. 23,9 for Baro. Our 3 guards combined for 39. 6 TOs.

#6 seed, #7 ranked Dayton for the title. We beat them in the national title game in April.

11/19: 76-64. They kept it fairly close most of the way but we stayed in control. 22 for Mike John. I still feel that the O is not quite where we want it yet.

11/20: 4-0, #1 ranked.

All 5 recruits sign. We will probably bank the remaining scholarship.

Some things have changed regarding how people live, at least here at UConn, but generally what’s true here is true in most places.

People still live in condo style apartments, the size depending upon the size of the family.

People eat in cafeterias near where they live or work. The cafeterias offer lots of options and choices. There is a movement to allow restaurants, and it is gaining momentum.

The work week is 24 hours for most people. This is usually 4 days, 6 hours per day, but in some cases it is three 8 hour days. Some jobs require more time, like mine for instance. There are so many jobs being done by robots that there is no need for most people to work more than 24 hours a week, and that is for 26 weeks a year. So people have LOTS of free time.

The free time is spent in many, many ways, of course, too numerous to mention. But lots of people spend lots of time hooked up to gaming consoles or in virtual reality chambers (VRCs). In each complex there are now enough VRCs to accommodate the demand.

People do everything imaginable in the VRCs. We’ll get more specific about that later.

Transportation is public, buses and trains in most places, planes for long trips. The public transportation is now extremely safe. Vast improvements have been made and all forms of public transportation are maintained in every way and to the highest degree. Accidents are very, very rare.

Many people live in pairs, some in threes, some alone, and a few in combinations of four or more. No one, at least no one in authority, pays any attention to how people choose to live.

The birth rate is low. There was an almost explosion when it first became possible to have children again, but that has now leveled off. The population is rising, but slowly. This seems to be the case in most of the country, and as far as we know, in most of the world.

There are no wars anywhere and have not been for quite some time. The hope is that our species may finally have outgrown war, but we’ll see what the future brings.

12/4: 8-0, #1, RPI #12. Lots of the teams we’ve played were ranked pre-season but by the time we played them they were no longer ranked. Thus only #12. But we’re playing current #3 and #4 before the holidays. There are changes we could make to our lineup but we’re playing really well so why do that!

12/25: 1-20, #1, RPI #2. +22.9 PPG (#19, #2), +12.2 RBs (#1), +7.0 TOs (#1). We beat #3 by 27 and #4 by 25, both at our place. Baro leads us with 16.1, 13.0.

4 games on the road against ranked teams in Big Ten play.

1/1/2136: 14-0, 2-0. We beat #9 ranked Ohio ST by 20.

1/15: 18-0, 6-0. We’re playing solid basketball.

1/29: 22-0, 10-0. #1, RPI #2. 1 up on #2 ranked Michigan ST. We play them there in 2 weeks. +22.4 PPG (#6, #4), +14.7 RBs (#1), +5.9 TOs (#1).

Baro leads us with 18.9, 13.5.

Mike Mill is #23 on the Norton list.

2/12: 25-1, 13-1, #1, RPI #1. #2 ranked Michigan ST beat us by 11 there. Most points we’ve given up all year, least points we’ve scored. We shot 35.4% and had 18 TOs.

Still a game up on Michigan ST, 2 up on #9 ranked Maryland. Everyone else is out of it.

2/26: 29-1, 17-1, #1, RPI #1. We beat #2 Michigan ST by a single game in the Big Ten, and #9 Maryland by 3 games. +22.1 PPG (#3, #6), +14.3 RBs (#1), +5.9 TOs (#1).

3/5: 6th man, C/PF Ken Wann, is the only player to go to the draft.

3/7: We play #8 seed Indiana, 18-11, 9-9, first. Beat them by 20 there.

3/8: 82-56. They kept it close for a half. 24 for SG Mike John, 19, 17 with 4 blocks for Waha Baro. +19 RBs.

#5 seed, #17 ranked Ohio ST, 20-12, 10-8, in the semis. Beat them by 20 at our place then by only 8 at theirs. We’re a huge favorite.

3/9: 85-62. Never close. 24, 7, 5 for PG Al Gure, 16, 16, 4, with 6 blocks for Baro. +27 RBs.

#2 seed, #2 ranked Michigan ST, 29-2, 16-2, for the title. They’re the only team to beat us this season. We’re a big favorite but they’re one tough team!

3/10: 91-99. By FAR the most points we’ve allowed all season. This team has our number. 25 for Gure, 24 for John, but they beat us inside, handily. -9 RBs.

31-2. I expect us to be the #2 overall, even though we’re still ranked #1, RPI #1. We’ll see.

3/12: #1 South, #2 overall. Interestingly enough Mich. ST is #3 overall. FL is #1. We play #16 NC A & T, 17-13.

3/16: 86-63. Never a game. 25, 11 for Baro, 18, 20 for Mill.

#9 seed Oklahoma ST, 20-12, is next.

3/18: 78-58. No challenge. 18, 13 for Mill. +16 RBs, 9 TOs.

#4 seed, #21 ranked LSU, 24-9, in the Sweet Sixteen. The oddsmakers think it will be easy. It’s rarely easy at this stage.

3/23: 91-68. They stayed close for a half. 22, 4, 5 for Gure, 18, 11 for Baro, 19, 2, 8 for John, 17, 12 for Mill.

#3 seed, #17 ranked Miami, 25-8, in the Elite Eight. This is a team we should beat.

3/25: 92-60. 23, 22, 6 blocks for Baro, 24 for John. +16 RBs, 6 TOs.

It looks very much like we’re going to get a third shot at Mich. ST in the national final. In the semifinal we play unranked #9 seed UCLA, 23-11. This is another team we should beat.

4/1: 87-52. Not pretty. 21, 19, 7 blocks for Baro. +20 RBs, 8 TOs.

It’s #2 ranked Michigan ST for the title. They beat us by 11, and then by 8. We’re heavily favored, but we were both last time and the time before. Honestly, we haven’t stopped their inside game yet and we need to if we’re to have a chance.

4/3: 73-83. They beat us inside again. Mike John had 30, but the big guys didn’t get it done. You can draw up the perfect game plan but if your team doesn’t execute it, it’s not worth a thing.

4/4: Awards: I get National COY again. Doesn’t mean anything to me though. In the Big Ten, junior Waha Baro is Def. POY and 1st team. Soph guard Al Gure and junior guard Sam Wite make the 2nd team.

4/9: Michigan State’s coach retired and they called. I’m staying here.

4/23: I ask for facilities. No.

36-3, lost in the title game. Overall, I’m 703-163, .812.

5/1: #1 recruiting class, #1 preseason again. But we’re thin, not much bench. We’ll see what happens.

6/5: 2 spots for transfers.

6/9: We’re after 2 PFs. We need bigs.

6/12: We get both of them.

6/26: 2 scholarships. We’re looking for 1 and 1.

8/7: PG Al Gure is #10 on the Norton list. PG Mike John is #12, and SF Nick Roll is #14.

8/21: We offer to a PG and a PF.

9/11: We lose one.

9/18: We get a PF, #12, a PG, #28.

Pre-season NIT vs. Drexel.

10/2: 1st day of practice. We’re picked to win the Big Ten again, but Michigan ST is ranked #2 in the nation.

The beauty of the VRCs is that you can do anything in there and you can be anything in there. I’ve had more than one person tell me they coached my UConn team in the chamber and did better than I did, which I find very amusing. Others use it for adventure, for an alternate life, for sex- you name it. You can create virtual people exactly to your specs then tweak them as you go along. Lots of people tell me that if the technology ever makes it possible they will spend all of their time in a chamber. I do some things in there but not often and not for long periods of time. I’m good with my reality.

11/6: 7 man rotation:

Junior Al Gure is back at PG. Soph Mike John is back starting at SG and subbing at PG. Frosh Kat Wams subs at SG and SF.

Senior Sam Wite is at SF.

Frosh Nick Roll starts at PF, subs at C. Frosh Wes Warn subs at PF.

Senior Waha Baro is back at C.

11/13: We start at the NIT tomorrow against #16 seed Drexel. We’re #1.

11/14: 83-55. 20, 6 for Baro, 21, 5, 5 for Mike John. +14 TOs.

#9 seed Charlotte is next.

11/16: 90-61. 26, 3, 5 for John, 22, 13 for Baro, 14, 14 for PF Nick Roll.

#4 seed, #15 ranked Gonzaga in the semis.

11/18: 81-63. It took a while, but eventually we broke it open. 18, 14 for Baro, 17, 13 for Roll, 14, 6, 3 for John.

#10 seed, #12 ranked Nevada for the title. They’ve put together a string of upsets to get here.

11/20: 96-74 and the title. 24, 13, 5 for Baro, 18, 15 for Roll, 18, 4, 3 for PG Al Gure.

Both recruits sign.

12/4: 7-1, #1, RPI #2. We lost by 5 at #9 Arkansas. D was awful, especially outside- we gave up 16 threes. Also had 19 TOs.

12/25: 10-2, #1, RPI #2. We lost at #3 Duke, 72-83. We shot 33.9%, they shot 52%. We didn’t rebound (-6). +19.9 PPG (#1, #79), +14.0 RBs (#1), +5.9 TOs (#12).

1/1/2137: 12-2, 2-0. #1, RPI #1. Good win at #18 Ohio ST, by 9.

1/15: 15-3, 5-1, #1, RPI #1. We lost by 12 at #13 Purdue. This is already the most losses we’ve had in a season in 8 years and we have about 20 games left to play.

1/29: 19-3, 9-1, #1, RPI #2. In a tie for 2nd with #7 Maryland, one back of #5 Michigan ST. We play them both on the road, which is probably not good.

Nick Roll is #21, Mike John #24 on the Norton list.

2/12: 22-4, 12-2, #1, RPI #2. In a 3 way tie for 1st with #5 Maryland, #6 Michigan ST.

2/26: 26-4, 16-2. We win the Big Ten by 1 over # Michigan ST. Maryland faded.

#1, RPI #2. +20.2 PPG (#1, #28), +14.1 RBs (#1), +5.8 TOs (#5). Waha Baro leads us with 21.4, 13.0.

Our local council turned down the proposal for restaurants but the cafeteria will feature “nights”- an Italian night, a Chinese night, and Indian night, and a few others. The main entrée will still be served but all of the other entrees will follow the theme. This will happen Mon.-Thurs., every week. The themes will vary from week to week. Those that prove most popular will recur most often.
