Kennesaw State (1-0) @ Southern California (0-0)
A Reggie Lewis triple put us up 3-0 on USC with 18:49 to go, and Chris Earl added one a minute later to make our lead 8-0 with 17:41 remaining in the half! The Trojans had not calculated on us being a tough opponent for their home opener, and we tore them to shreds early, and with 14:27 to play we were still ahead 16-6. More impressively, when USC fought back and tried to make it a game we were the ones clamping down, rebuilding our lead to 29-20 with 7:22 left, and by halftime we were firmly in control. Halftime: Kennesaw State 40, Southern California 31.
We continued to shoot better than 40 percent from the field as the second half got going, and with 14:48 to play we held a solid 51-37 lead on the struggling Trojans. Three minutes later we led by 20 and were on the verge of blowing out a major-conference opponent on their own court! USC tried to fight back in this one but they were too late. We held tough defensively and coasted to the biggest win in school history to date, beating the Trojans on the road 75-61!
That oughtta wake some people up!
