1/4: 83-50 over Central FL here to start AAC play. 54-25 at the half. 21, 15 for Hamp, 16, 10, 7 for Kinz, 19, 6, 6 for Pebb. +27 RBs.

1/5: The day has come. The referendum was today. We vote electronically via our computers so the totals came in within minutes of the 8 pm deadline. 238,777 for the death penalty, 237,901 against. Ridiculously close, but the death peanalty remains on the books.

1/7: 81-70 at Tulane. 50-38 at the half and the final was as close as they got in the 2nd. 19, 8 for Hamp, 18, 5, 6 for Kinz. +16 RBs.

1/11: 78-48 over Houston. Never a game. 23, 16 for Hamp, 25 for Pebb.

The judge in the Browning case sentenced him to death. Due to the controversy over the death penalty she allowed 90 days for the defense to appeal.

1/14: 80-65 at a good Tulsa team. 14, 14 for Hamp, 16 each for Pebb and Kinz. 11 TOs.

Three days of massive demonstrations against the death penalty. Tens of thousands have marched and demonstrated all over Domus. Counter demonstrations have been smaller but active.

1/16: Browning kept a journal, which just turned up. It was very well hidden at his place of employment and someone appears to have found it completely by accident and then turned it over to Browning's defense attorney who immediately filed with the judge to let him know it had been found. The journal was copied with the defense attorney keeping a copy and the original going to the police and another to the court. No disclosure yet regarding what it contained.

1/18: 78-47 over East Carolina at home. 41 for Pebb, with 11 threes.

No one is talking about Browning's journal. I did get a friend who is a police Captain to say, "There's some seriously crazy **** in there!"

1/21: 75-67 at #25 Temple. A rare close game, but not all that close. The final was as close as they got in the last 5 minutes. 17, 16 for Hamp, 15, 2, 6 for Pebb.

Demonstrations continue against the execution.

We're in 1st place but 3 teams are only 1 behind.

1/25: 74-55 over Memphis. Close for a half. 18, 5, 6 for Pebb, 16 for Kinz, 13, 9 for Hamp. +17 RBs.

1/28: 90-78 at Cincy. 51-30 at the half. 28, 16 for Hamp, 22, 7 for Pebb.

Bart Hamp is #6, Josh Pebb #11 on the Norton list.

2/1: 94-76 at Central FL. Tied at the half. 36, 9, 3 for hamp, 18, 5 for Beem.

We're 20-1, 9-0, 2 game lead in the AAC, #4, RPI #1. +23.4 PPG (#1), +11.9 RBs (#2), -3.9 TOs. #1 in assists.

The defense has requested that the appeal of sentence be moved up to as soon as possible.

Massive demonstrations are ongoing.

2/2: The judge sets a date of Feb. 13 for the appeal.

2/4: 88-65 over Wichita ST here. 49-31 at the half. 24, 11 for Hamp, 20, 6 for Beem, 15, 7, 7 for Kinz. +17 RBs.

2/8: 98-58 over South Florida. Subs played a lot. 27, 10, 3 for Beem, 19, 10, 7 for Pebb, 19, 6, 3 for 6th man Jay Wilk. 4 TOs.

#3. 3 game lead in the AAC with 7 to play.

The protests seem to be actually increasing in crowd size. All nonviolent to date.

2/11: 88-74 at Memphis. 43-28 at the half. 30, 8 for Hamp, 19, 3, 7 for Kinz. 11 TOs.

Hamp is #6, Pebb #12 on the Norton list.

2/13: The judge opened the appeal hearing by warning the gallery to behave and by being very clear that demonstrations would have and had had exactly no effect on her decision. "The law is the law. We will rule based upon the evidence presented here."

The defense attorney asked to read portions of Browning's journal into the record. The judge allowed it.

Several passages were read. They were more than interesting. Browning believed that he was in regular, direct communication with the Morbai, the residents of Domus, who had been here for tens of thousands of years before our arrival, and who had gone into hiding since we got here. They chose to communicate to only him. The told him to start killing women since only women could have babies. After he had killed a certain number (not clear what that number was) he was to begin making and setting bombs. It was his task to kill off the entire human population.

The communication was through a device the Morbai had implanted beneath his skull, which was still in place. They continued to speak to him regularly and were working on a way to free him.

It went on like that for more than an hour, making several references to Browning killing all humans.

The judge eventually stopped the attorney and told him that he had made his point, and asked what he was asking for.

"Your honor, my client is obviously delusional and criminally insane. I am asking that the death penalty be rescinded and that he be placed in a mental institution under the tightest possible security."

The Prosecutor disagreed and said that the only way justice could be attained for the seven victims was via the death penalty.

The judge then called a recess.

"I will hand down my decision at the end of the recess."

Fifteen minutes later the judge ruled, placing Browning in a maximum security cell in our one and only mental hospital. He ordered the facility to establish "the strictest possible security" and said that Browning would be held in his current location until that security was in place.

2/15: 73-54 over Tulane here. 19, 7, 8 for Pebb, 16, 5, 4 for Kinz. Hamp spent the night in foul trouble and had only 5 and 10. +23 Rbs but a season high 21 TOs.

2/18: 80-62 at Houston. 18, 4, 6 for Pebb, 17, 4 for Wilk. 8 TOs. Easy win but we were a little flat. We'll work on it during practice. We need to stay sharp.

#2 behind Rider. 4 game lead with 4 to play.

2/22: 96-75 over Tulsa here. 54-27 at the half. 25, 16 for Hamp, 20, 8, 3 for Beem, 19, 3, 9 for Pebb. +14 RBs.

We have now clinched the regular season title.

2/25: 85-64 at East Carolina. 24, 4, 3 for Kinz, 20, 4, 6 for Pebb, 19, 9 for Hamp. 10 TOs.

We're now #1 in the country. 25 game win streak.

3/1: 83-62 over Temple here. 26, 7, 3 for Hamp, 20, 4, 5 for Kinz, 13, 7, 5 for Pebb.

Our lead is now 5 games. We will try to move to the ACC or Big Ten next season.

3/2: Browning was moved to the mental hospital today under extremely heavy guard. It was not announced in advance that he would be moved today.

He is housed in a windowless cell with a single door that is deadlocked and barred at all times. His meals are slid in through a slot. He is allowed to communicate with the guards- there are always two outside his cell. If he needs medical treatment the guards will enter the cell with the medical practitioner.

Our police do not carry firearms, which are prohibited and only manufactured in very limited numbers. Browning's guards carry night sticks only.

3/4: 86-52 at Southern Methodist. 30, 6, 3 for pebb, 15, 12 for Beem, 15, 11 for Hamp, 14, 6, 3 for Kinz.

Hamp is #5 on the Norton list.

Josh Pebb declares for the draft. I thought we might lose Hamp, and possibly Beem as well so this isn't bad.

We win the AAC by 5. #1, RPI #1. +21.3 PPG (#1), +11.6 RB (#3), #1 in assists, -3.7 TOs.

On to the post season! We have high hopes and expectations.

I haven't spoken much about life on Domus lately. Everyone has been living on planet since 9/7/2187, about 4 1/2 years. And we're settled. People take their shifts on the hub when they come up but spend nearly all of their time here. We have all of the goods and services we need, there is no poverty and no upper class. Everyone works, and when needed people volunteer to help out. We have plenty of entertainment, both in the holos and "live," and nearly everyone would say that life is good. There are about 8 months of absolutely beautiful weather and 4 months of miserable weather.

3/9: We play #8 seed Houston, 15-15, 7-11, in the quarters. Beat them by 30 and 18.

3/10: 71-43. Great D in a slow paced game. 26, 8, 8 for Pebb, 15, 7, 5 for Kinz, 14, 7 for Hemp. 8 TOs.

#4 seed Wichita ST, 18-12, 12-6, in the semis. Beat them by 23 at home.

3/11: 96-75. Close for a half. 22, 12 for Beem, 20, 5, 3 for Pebb, 18, 6, 6 for kinz, 17, 8 for Hamp. Our 5th starter, Jed Jonn, who rarely gets mentioned, is a great defender and a good rebounder and passer.

#6 seed Tulane, 21-11, 10-8, upset the #3 then the #2 seed to get to the final. We beat them by 11 there and 19 here.

3/12: 74-55 and the title. Close for a half. 17, 10, 10 for Kinz, a very rare triple double. 20, 5 for Pebb but he had 11 TOs, very unusual for him. 20, 4, 3 for Wilk.

We expect to be the #1 overall seed.

Yep, #1 East. We play #16 Prairie View, 18-15.

3/16: 78-55. Never a game. 25, 13 for Hamp, 16, 6, 5 for Kinz.

#9 seed Tulane (again). We've beaten them easily three times.

3/18: 86-63. 21. 9. 5 for Pebb, 15, 8, 4 for Hamp, 18 for Kinz.

#12 seed Citadel, 26-10, made it to the Sweet Sixteen.

3/23: 81-67. 46-31 at the half. 19, 17 for Hamp, 22 for Kinz.

#6 seed, #25 ranked LSU, 25-10, in the Elite Eight. Lots of upsets in what looked like a strong bracket.

3/25: 95-77 and we're in the Final Four! 48-33 at the half. 30, 20, 4 for Hamp, 21, 3, 4 for Kinz.

We play #3 ranked Rider, 36-3, in the National Semifinal. We've won 34 games in a row. We think we're the better team but we need to play well.

It's #1 seed, #2 ranked North Carolina vs. #12 seed Syracuse in the other game.

4/1: 82-74. It was close nearly all the way. We went on a late run and built up a 14 point lead. 23, 11 for Beem, 18, 3, 5 for Pebb.

We play #2 ranked North Carolina, 35-4, for the title. They are favored by 1 1/2.

4/3: 70-50 and the national title. I expected a tougher game but we just shut them down in the 1st half, 34-14, and we never trailed. 21, 3, 5 for Pebb, 12, 10 for Hamp.

We end the season with a 36 game win streak!

4/4: Awards: Bart Hamp is tourney MOP and 1st team Al American. I am National COY. In the AAC, Hamp is MOP, Def MOP, Frosh OY and 1st team with Pebb and Kinz. Beem makes 2nd team and I am Conf COY.

4/9: Not going anywhere.

4/23: We ask for facilities.

No.

38-1, National title. Overall, I am 485-98, .832 for 16 seasons.

5/1: #2 recruiting class. Preseason #2, behind North Carolina. We move to the Big Ten.

5/11: Browning somehow escaped. His cell was found open at the shift change and a nurse and the two guards were dead, stabbed with a carving knife.

A planet wide search was started immediately.

5/17: Browning is still at large. The assumption is that he went to the unexplored areas of the planet and is living off the land. Every room and closet in every building has been searched with no trace of him being found.

6/1: Nothing to report regarding Browning. Police officers are now armed with pistols, and rifles are available if needed. This is a first for us.

6/5: Room for 2 transfers but they'd need to be really good.

6/9: We decide to wait for recruiting.

6/26: 3 scholarships. We need at least 2 guards.

7/1: No sign of Browning.

8/1: Still no sign of Browning.

8/7: Bart Hamp is #13 on the Norton list.

8/21: We offer to 2 PGs and a C.

8/24: Someone reported seeing something moving in the forest behind the Northwest corner of the city. It looked like a person.

The police have initiated a massive search in that area.

8/26: Police report signs that someone had been in the area they searched but they were not able to find the person.

8/29: The search continues and is widened.

9/1: Two dead bodies found, both young women, one 19, the other 24. They were botanists working in the area. Both were stabbed with a carving knife. The search is again widened.

9/10: Two more women stabbed to death in the forest. They were out gathering native plants to cook.

9/18: We get our three, 2 PGs, #15 and #24, and a C, #18.

Caribbean Challenge and mostly ranked teams.

9/22: Browning is dead. Two women police officers, posing as water testers. They spent the day near a stream in an area where they thought he was. They got lucky. He approached them and engaged them in conversation, getting closer and closer. Eventually he pulled out his knife, one of the officers drew her gun and shot him in the chest. The wound was fatal and the nightmare is over. He killed 14 people before he was put down.

10/2: First day of practice. We definitely have a great shot at repeating.

11/1: Life is peaceful these days.

11/13: Season starts tomorrow.

11/14: 88-70 over Houston here. 30, 3, 5 for Jeb Kinz, who moved to the Point this season. 17, 11 for C Bart Hamp. 12, 2, 5 for #3 guard Josh Sadd. 8 TOs, +10 RBs. Great start!

11/20: All 3 recruits sign.

11/21: 79-64 over Duke here. 27, 8 for Hamp, 18, 4 for SG Lan Ells, 10, 11 for PF Lou Felt.

11/24: 85-70 over #4 Utah here. This game tells me we will be competitive with anyone and everyone. 27, 5 for Hamp, 15, 7, 4 for Felt, 15 for King, 13 for Ells.

11/28: 74-54 over Kentucky here. 15, 5, 3 for Hamp. Balanced scoring. We have been remarkably consistent so far, winning every game by between 15 and 20 points. We have yet to be challenged.

#2 in the country West Virginia next.

12/1: 70-63 here. First competitive game. We broke it open a little with an 8-2 run late in the game. That gave us a 10 point lead and we took it home from there. 19, 9 for Hamp, 14 for Sadd, who is earning more minutes.

12/5: 98-73 over LSU here. 21, 8, 4 for Hamp. 7 TOs.

6-0, all at home. We go on the road for our next and then to a tournament. #10, RPI #1. We're definitely underrated, which is fine with me.

Life is good. I have discovered home made apple pie. A diner I occasionally have lunch at serves it. AMAZING!!!

12/12: 79-63 at Virginia. 33, 11 for Hamp. +27 RBs.

Off to the Caribbean Challenge. We're the #1 seed. We play #8 seed Rhode Island.

12/16: 77-57. 26 for Hamp, 15 RBs for Felt, solid team play. +14 RBs, 12 TOs.

#5 seed Baylor, 5-5, in the semis.

12/17: 70-40. Lock down D! 17, 12 for Felt, 11, 12 for Hamp. +28 RBs, 10 TOs.

#2 seed, #19 ranked South Carolina, 8-1 for the title.

12/18: 91-86. Closest game of the season to date. They built a big early lead but we had it tied by halftime. 30, 13 for Hamp, 14, 4 for pell, 10, 7 for Sadd.

Bench play made the difference for us tonight.

12/19: 77-59 over Cincinnati to end pre-conf play. 18, 10 for Hamp, great bench play again. 10 TOs.

12/25: 11-0, #4, RPI #5. +17.2 PPG, +10.3 RBs, -3.4 TOs. 22.2 PPG for Hamp, and 8.5 RBs; Lou Felt gets 8.3.

Going to Big Ten play.

Life continues to be peaceful on Domus as we head into the rainy season.

12/26: 70-77 at Indiana. Welcome to the Big Ten, I guess. In a lot of ways we outplayed them- rebounding, ball handling, free throw shooting. But shooting from the floor did us in. We shot 35%, they shot 51%. We were 6-25 on threes, they were 11-26.

12/30: 87-40 over Michigan here. Home sweet home! 52-18 at the half. 20 for Kinz, 33 for the bench. For the 2nd straight game Hamp has been held in check. But he's playing hurt- bruised thigh.

And the rainy season has begun.

1/2/2194: 72-74 at Iowa. The road is hard in the Big Ten! Close all the way and they won it in the last few seconds. 17, 10, 5 for Felt. Hamp is still playing hurt; he had 12 and 8 but only was able to play 23 minutes.

Bugs. We have bugs. This is the first sign of any form of animal life we've seen since we landed on the planet several years ago.

Our scientists are saying they may be a form of insect that hibernates for long periods of time like the seventeen year cicadas back on Earth.

This solves the mystery of how all the plants on Domus are pollenated. Yes, many are pollenated by the wind driving the pollen onto the plants but that didn't seem to explain things totally. This may.

We don't know yet whether these insects will be in any way harmful to humans since the rainy season has begun and people are only going outdoors in very limited numbers.

There's no way to know how long the bugs will be around, of course.

1/6: 82-67 at Purdue. Finally a Big Ten road win. 21, 14, 4 for Hamp, who is much better physically, 12, 15 for Felt. +16 RBs.

1/9: The bugs bite or sting, and the effect is serious. The victim, if they are lucky, swells up and has a nasty welt that itches and lasts for days. With some it is much worse setting up an allergic reaction that makes the victim seriously ill. There have been no deaths to date but a few close calls.

1/11: 100-68 over Rutgers here. 64-34 at the half. 26, 9 for sub forward Fred Pell, 17, 5, 3 for Hamp, 14, 4, 8 for sub guard Josh Sadd. We really have a terrific bench.

There must be billions of these bugs on the planet. More seem to hatch every day. They are a real menace. They seem to find ways to get inside our buildings and they are sickening large numbers of people.

1/13: 96-74 at Penn ST. 20, 11 for Hamp, 17, 10, 5 for Felt, 19 for Kinz, 35 for the bench.

Our first two fatalities attributed to bug bites. Our scientists are working on some sort of a way to poison the bugs, something for inside use only as we don't want to disturb the planet's natural cycles. The thought is that once they're inside a building they're fair game.

1/18: 79-58 over Indiana at home. 22, 11 for Hamp, 18, 3, 3 for Ells. +14 RBs, 7 TOs.

16-2, 5-2, #6, RPI #10, in a 6 way tie for 1st with 3 more teams 1 back but it's early.

Mesh screens are being manufactured to place over all doors and windows on all buildings. This is a massive project and may take up to two years to complete. It won't do anything to ease the problem of the current infestation, assuming it is of relatively short duration, but the pests have become a very serious matter and we want to at least have things in place for the next time they show up.

Work continues on a chemical solution to the infestation.

The death toll is up to 17, and the lost hours of work due to allergic reactions to the stings has become a huge problem.

1/23: 76-54 at Ohio ST. 18, 4, 8 for Kinz, 16, 5 for Felt, 13, 11, 5 for Hamp, 12, 8 for PF Cris Beem. +20 RBs.

1/27: 90-56 over Purdue at home. 51-29 at the half. 16, 11 for Hamp, 18 for Kinz, 13, 7, 3 for Sadd. +27 RBs.

53 dead, hundreds made seriously ill by insect stings. No end in sight as new bugs seem to hatch out every day. It is difficult to know how long they live. The ones we've captured all die within a day or two but we don't know when they hatched.

No progress with either a vaccine or a spray to kill them. At least 5 more weeks of rainy season.

2/1: 98-77 at Nebraska. 21 for Kinz, 17, 10 for Hamp, 6 players had 11 or more. 7 TOs.

Bart Hamp is #6 on the Norton list.

2/6: 88-60 at Michigan. 28, 14, 4 for Hamp, 20, 8, 5 for Sadd. +21 RBs.

We finally found some insect eggs. Waiting for them to hatch.

2/8:71-55 over #21 Minnesota here to break the 1st place tie. We are alone in 1st. 38-18 at the half. 25, 8 for Hamp, 18, 1, 6 for Kinz.

2/10: 81-60 over Illinois at home. 47-22 at the half. 30, 6 for Hamp, 18, 8 for Felt.

The eggs hatched. Now we'll know how long they live.

2/13: The bugs live 2 1/2 days, at least in captivity they do.

2/15: 80-82 at #18 Michigan ST. A battle all the way. They won it on the last possession with a pick and roll that worked to perfection. 25, 10 for Hamp, 16 each for Ells and Felt.

Virtual 3 way tie for 1st with another team 1 game back and 6 to play for us. The schedule is favorable for us.

22-3, 11-3, #4, RPI #10.
