Started a new dynasty with CBB 20, so thought it would be fun to do a new dynasty report.

After finishing tied for last in the Sun Belt, the Troy University Trojans have decided to move on from head coach Phil Cunningham, who made the NCAA Tournament just once in six seasons with the program. The next coach will be 30-year old rookie Scott Price, who will try to lead a young team back to the top of the Sun Belt. The 2019-20 team will just feature one senior on scholarship, so Price and his staff will have work to do to make a run for the conference title.

2019-20 Roster:

Point Guard:
#2 Luke Linton (6-0 Sophomore) - Linton will likely begin the season as Troy's starting point guard. The sophomore isn't much of a scorer, but he's a great playmaker that should be able to find his open teammates on the floor. He also looks like one of the best defensive guards on the team.

#3 Zach Petteway (5-8 Sophomore) - Petteway is the smallest player on the team, but he also has the potential to be a solid defender with his ability to come up with steals. Petteway probably isn't quite as good of a floor general as Linton, but he is a better outside shooter that can get hot from deep.

Shooting Guard:
#21 Steven Haslem (6-1 Sophomore) - Haslem looks like he's mostly a three point specialist at this point, but his scoring ability makes him an option to start at shooting guard.

#32 Oliver Smith (6-3 Freshman) - Smith is the most highly-touted freshman entering the program this season, and his shooting and passing abilities make him a possibility to start on opening night. The biggest knock on him is that his inexperience could lead to a lot of turnovers.

#1 Mike Guthridge (6-4 Junior) - Guthridge is unspectacular as a scoring guard, but his size and rebounding ability makes him a viable option as a wing.

#14 Matt Kincade (6-1 Freshman) - Kincade has a lot of potential as an outside shooter, but our depth at guard makes him a redshirt candidate.

Small Forward:
#5 Danny Thomas (6-7 Sophomore) - Thomas is an all-around solid player that can score at multiple levels, and should see a lot of playing time on the wing this season.

#25 Kevin Watson (6-6 Freshman) - Watson is very raw at this point in his career, but we don't have much depth at his position so he may have an opportunity to play early in the season.

#12 Alan Woodberry (6-8 Senior) - Woodberry is a walk on, but depending on how well Watson adjusts to the college game, he may get a chance to play off the bench.

Power Forward:
#33 Tremmell Brown (6-8 Senior) - Brown is the only senior on scholarship, and as a great rebounder he should see a lot of playing time in the post. Brown isn't the most athletic forward, but he is a pretty skilled inside scorer.

#40 Corey Best (6-8 Junior) - Best is a decent backup, but doesn't look like he's good enough on offense to get major minutes.

#42 Chuck Reid (6-11 Freshman) - Reid is a bit of a project at this point, but at 6-11 he has the chance to be a great stretch 4/5 if he keeps improving his shooting. At this point, he might not be physical enough to be a great center.

Center:
#41 Gerald Griffin (6-9 Junior) - Griffin is a great rebounder as a big, but his inside scoring ability is questionable at this point. His physicality makes him an imposing defender if he can stay out of foul trouble.

#13 Rob Stone (6-10 Junior) - Stone is a bigger outside shooting threat than Griffin, but his defensive ability doesn't quite match up.

#52 Kory Napier (6-9 Sophomore) - Walk on who probably won't play unless there's a few injuries.

The Scott Price era at Troy began with a win, as the Trojans came back from a 6-point halftime deficit to win by 8. Despite scoring 91 points, Troy's scoring output was spread out as nobody scored more than 14 points, with the two leading scorers coming from off the bench (Stone and Best). A good defensive performance in the second half was key for the Trojans, and one of the big differences was the turnover differential, as the Red Flash turned the ball over 17 times.

Injury Report:
Gerald Griffin is dealing with a strained abdominal muscle, and he is questionable to play the next game on Saturday against American.

Recruiting Update:
Troy has received a verbal commitment from Eric Swift, a 2-star forward from Pinson, Alabama. Swift is ranked 407th in his class, and has taken the only available scholarship for next season.

The Trojans put up another huge offensive night, as this time all 5 starters scored in double figures. American hung in the game by hitting an amazing 17 three pointers, but Troy got enough stops at the end when needed, as they forced 20 turnovers on the game. Rob Stone had a big night starting in place of the injured Gerald Griffin, as he pulled down 5 offensive rebounds and scored 14 points.

Troy's first road trip of the season resulted in its first loss, as Tennessee State held on to win by 2 on their home court. The Trojans lived and died by the three, taking 38 attempts from beyond the arc. Troy couldn't get much offense going in the paint, and that proved to be difference as the Tigers scored more points at the rim and from the free throw line.

Injury Report:
Luke Linton suffered a minor wrist injury, and he is questionable for the next game at Toledo. Gerald Griffin is also still dealing with an abdominal injury, and is still not quite ready to play.

Troy's road trip to Toledo turned ugly fast, as the Rockets quickly took a double digit lead in the first half. The Trojans allowed their opponents to shoot a high percentage once again, and they couldn't match up offensively with only 62 points. Turnovers were a big issue, as Troy set its season high with 17 giveaways on the afternoon.
