It was a happy senior night at Trojan Arena, as Troy stunned 21st-ranked South Alabama, handing the Jaguars their third loss of conference play. Even though it was senior night, Troy's freshman carried the load, as Reid, Smith, and Watson combined for 24 points off the bench. Troy fell behind early in the first half, but a huge offensive outburst in the final 20 minutes led to the huge win.

The Trojans made a nice comeback in the second half, but it ended in heartbreak as UT-Arlington closed out the 1-point win. Troy couldn't get anything going from the outside, hitting just three threes in the game, and with 21 turnovers it was difficult to prevent Arlington from scoring in transition. Troy now needs a win at Arkansas State to close out the 4 seed, as UT-Arlington trails by one game and has the tiebreaker.

After going 0-2 against UTA during the regular season, Troy picked up a win in the tournament when it mattered most. The Trojans let their big halftime lead slip away, but a few clutch threes by Steven Haslem sealed the game in the final minutes. Hot shooting was crucial for Troy, as they were outscored in the paint and didn't rebound particularly well.

#1 South Alabama 81

A trip to the CIT probably meant a lot more to a mid major program like Troy than it did to a blue blood like UCLA, and it showed as the Trojans pulled away in the second half. Gerald Griffin made a huge impact in just 15 minutes off the bench, leading the way with 16 points. Troy will get the chance to host another team from a power conference, as Mississippi State defeated Toledo in its first round game.

Troy's tournament run continued, as they had another excellent shooting night in their win over Mississippi State. The Trojans only scored 10 points in the paint, but 11 three pointers made up for that deficiency, as Haslem and Petteway each connected on multiple deep balls. Troy will take on Yale with the chance to advance to the semifinals.

Image
Steven Haslem was the scoring leader again, but this time Troy had a very balanced scoring distribution as 7 players scored at least 5 points. Yale shot a dismal 17% from three, and couldn't keep up despite a relatively quiet night from the Trojans. Troy will now advance to the semifinals to play Green Bay.

Image
Troy's postseason run finally came to an end, as their first road game of the tournament resulted in a loss to Green Bay. Haslem had another huge game, but the Phoenix dominated inside with 38 points in the paint. Troy finishes the season with a 20-15 record, the program's most successful season since making the NCAA Tournament as the Sun Belt champion in 2017.
