12/15: 90-77 vs. 7-1 UAB here. This is a good team. Very competitive 1st half until we went on a late run. Up 11 at the break.

7 players with 10 or more. Ward led us with 18, 3, 6. Sub Angelo Tria had10, 15, 4. We were worried about him getting Juli's minutes but he's been great so far.

6 TOs; they had 20. Again tonight we took way more shots, 22 more to be exact.

#3, NET #1. We're playing a tough schedule. No let up with the next one, #12 Florida State, 9-1.

I am back living in faculty housing, on campus. It's a dingy little apartment in a very old building. But I have people in my condo and they and I signed a lease so living there is not an option. What a mess!

12/19: Florida State is especially tough inside. We think we can match them there and beat them outside if we play our game. The Mullins Center will be sold out, as it almost always is.

83-54. We took an early lead. It stayed close. Then we went on a late 1st half run. Up 16 at the break. We are a great 2nd half team. Again tonight we just broke it open in the 2nd.

22, 4, 5 for Gazu, 20, 5, 3 for Feld, 17, 8 for Stan.

14 TOs, but they had 22. We shot 54.8%, they shot 36.7%. Sadly, we're next to last in the nation in free throw pct.

Hitting the road for the first time in 3 1/2 weeks. Only for one game though.

12/22: 77-70 at 5-3 Buffalo. Things can be tougher on the road. We trailed for most of the first half. A late run put us up 7 at the break. We could never break away, mostly due to foul trouble for all of our inside players. I had to play Deke Juli more than I wanted to. He'll be back to 100% for our next, but I was only able to put him in for a minute or two at a time tonight. Still, he played 15 minutes.

23, 16 for Stan, 17, 8, 4 for Feld.

+11 RBs. We took 20 more shots than they did and we needed them. They shot 51.1%.

One more pre-conference game.

12/26: 66-44 vs. 4-5 Iowa. They're better than their record. Out to a quick lead. Got it to 20 within 12 minutes. Up 18 at the half. They slowed it down but it didn't do them any good. Fewest points we've scored all season, tied for the fewest we've allowed.

19, 12 for Stan, 13, 11 for Feld.

+17 RBs, but 18 TOs, our worst of the season in that category. They shot 29.6%, 4-20 on threes.

15-0. Still ranked #3, #1 NET. On the stats page we're #1 in Overall NET rating, #2 in Def. NET, #8 in Off. NET, #2 in RBs, #5 in PPG Allowed, #3 in Blocks, #11 in Assists.

+23.4 PPG, +8.8 RBs, -8.3 TOs, which is amazing, +7.8 assists.

Gabe Stan leads us with 16.9 PPG, 2nd in RBs with 7.6 Sila Gazu is 2nd in points with 13.9, and Marq Feld is #3 with 13.0; he leads in RBs with 8.7.

We simply don't turn it over; no one has more than 1.9 per game.

On to Big East play. 8 of our 16 games will be against ranked opponents, 4 of them on the road, so the undefeated streak probably won't last, but that's okay. If we stay healthy I expect us to make a long run in the post season.

1/5: 94-61 vs. 8-5 UConn, here. We just exploded out of the gate, ran away and hid. Up 31 at the half.

25, 9, with 4 steals and 3 blocks for Stan, 15, 5, 3 for Hawk, 13, 6, 4 for Juli.

+17 RBs, 11 TOs. We shot 51.3%, 12-24 on threes.

Great start to the Big East season.

I've found a condo to sublet in a different condo complex from the one my condo and Brandi's are in.

1/9: 84-70 at #12 Seton Hall, 13-2. We took an early lead again, and got it to 10 by the halfway point. Up 21 at the break. I expected a struggle on the road vs. #12, but it never happened. We led by 20 or more for most of the 2nd half.

17, 5 for Hawk, 18, 2 for Gazu, 15, 8 for Feld, 12, 9 for Stan.

+8 RBs. We were quicker which made them foul more than we did and despite shooting 56.4% from the line that's where we won it. Our outside D could have been better. But we beat #12 on their court.

Starting PF Marq Feld strained a calf muscle. He'll miss our next two games.

Next up is #4 Georgetown here. With Feld out that could be a real challenge. We're up to #2 in the rankings and this game may tell us if that's accurate.

1/12: 77-80 in OT. They scored the 1st 8 points. It took us more than 10 minutes to take our first lead. Down 5 at the half. We played catch up for the last 10 minutes of regulation and tied it up with a three at the buzzer. Then they got out to a 7 point lead in OT and we couldn't catch up. Not having Feld really hurt us.

19, 9 for Stan, 16, 5 for Tria but his D was weak. Gazu got beat badly by his man.

+8 RBs but they turned us over 19 times and took 3 more shots. I hate to lose at home.

1/16: 81-73. at 8-10, 2-1 ST Johns. Close for most of the first half. Down 6 at the half. We chased them all night, then in the final 2 minutes we went on a mini-run when it counted most; 11-2 in that stretch.

6th man Angelo Tria led us with 20 and 8. 14, 11 for Hawk, 13, 3, 5 for Gazu.

+14 RBs, 9 TOs. We only shot 38.5% to their 47.1% but we took 14 more shots and 20 more free throws (57.1%).

We fell to #5 after the loss. NET #2.

I finally have all of my stuff our of Brandi's place. I thought she'd arrange to not be home when I got it but she was there, and she cried. It was tears of frustration. She said she really cares about me and is sad that we couldn't make it work. So am I... So am I... She will continue to watch PG when I'm on the road.

1/19: 80-62 vs. 12-5, 2-2 Villanova, here. It took us about 9 minutes to open up a big lead. Up 18 at the half. After 2 close ones it's nice to blow someone out.

25, 14 for Stan. Feld had 13 and played very good D in his first game back.

+11 RBs. We shot 55% to their 38.5%, but 7-14 from the line. We're dead last in the country in free throw pct.

19-1, 4-1. Tied with Georgetown in 1st in the Big East. 5 teams are 1 game back. It's early.

1/23: 83-65 vs. 13-7, 3-2 Butler there. We went down by 10 early. We fought to get back in it. Down 1 at the half. We had our way in the 2nd half, 42-23. Great comeback!

20, 4, 6 for Gazu, 20, 6 for Stan, 11, 5, 6 for Ward.

We shot 50%, 58.8% on threes, and we held them to 36.8%, 21.7% on threes.

I have to say it's a lonely life. I still think of Midge often and I probably always will, and I regret that things didn't work out with Brandi. I'm busy, and there's not much time to think of those things, but when I go to bed my head won't shut down. Having lots of trouble sleeping.
