11/18: #3 seed, #11 ranked Syracuse in the title game. This is a very good team. We think we're better but we'd better come to play!

11/19: Back and forth early. Down 6 after 10. It's a battle! 46-43 at the break. 13 for Moss, 12 for SF Ben Wite. We're sloppy, 12 TOs. Up 4 with 10 to go.

75-69 and the title. A close one though! 22, 10, 6, 4 for Moss, 14, 3, 4 for Wite. +11 from the line. +18 down low.

As we approach the planet we receive a message from the moon.

“Attention ship. Please state your intentions.”

“We are on a journey of exploration. We come in peace. We have no desire for conquest.”

“We are the Beor. We inhabit the moon. The planet is deserted.”

“May we send robotic probes down to the moon and the planet? They will determine whether the air is breathable for us on the moon, and they will explore the planet.”

“You may. The planet was devastated by war. It is not habitable by our people and is filled with poisonous, deadly vapors.”

So this race evidently destroyed one planet with pollution and another with war.

“Thank you. If we can breathe the air on your moon we would like to eventually send down a party of our people.”

“If you are peaceful, as you say you are, you would be most welcome.”

12/4: A real battle at #15 Kona, 81-79. Not quite as close as it seems as they hit a three at the buzzer. 28, 4, 3, 3 for Moss. A horrible 10 TOs for PG Don Hale, who now knows what it feels like to get his butt verbally kicked by me.

87-75 at Memphis. 25, 6, 5 for Moss, 24, 8, 3 for Wite, 12, 11, 4, 3 for Ansa. Casp was in foul trouble all night. +17 RBs.

An easy 70-49 win over Baylor here. Great D! 19, 12 for Ansa, 14, 9, 5 for Moss. We shot poorly but took an amazing 86 shots! Equally amazing 59 RBs! Only 5 TOs.

81-70 over #10 Duke here. We led all the way. 14, 5, 4, 6 for Moss, 13, 10 for 6th man C/F Josh Brad. +16 inside, 10 TOs.

We're now ranked #1!

The probe of the planet showed what is definitely nuclear devastation. There is nothing down there worth seeing. Everything has been destroyed.

The moon has air that we can breath with the aid of filters we wear in our noses.

The robots found almost no pollution. The population is very small, about 5000 people. They live a simple lifestyle. They do have public transportation but no individual vehicles. They seem to be agrarian. There is some technology, including their version of holo chambers. But they live a simple life.

After a few more days of observation by the robots we will send down a small party of humans.

12/25: We get upset at home, 83-85, by #3 Kansas. We didn't play good D in this one, letting them shoot 54.7%. They won it on a lucky 35 footer, but we should never have been in that position. 16, 10 for Ccasp, 17, 1, 8 for Hale, but 7 TOs. Our best player, Joe Moss, was out played.

79-65 over UCLA here. We were up only 2 at the half. 21, 4, 7, 7 for Moss. We were much better inside.

76-58 over Arizona here. We led all the way in this one. 19, 18, 5 for Casp, 20, 5 for Moss. +20 RBs, +16 inside. Our last pre-conf game was a 75-56 win over
#2 Kentucky here. We were only up by 1 at the half but took total control in the 2nd. 17, 14, 2, 3 for Casp, 15, 9, 5, 4 for Moss. We controlled the paint.

11-1, #1 ranked, #2 NET.

+12.7 PPG, +9.8 in RBs, and we're #1 in the nation. -4.7 TOs but a lousy 13.3.

18.2 by Joe Moss. Jev Casp leads in RBs with 9.3, and Rod Ansa gets 8.2. 7.6 for Josh Brad, our 6th man. 6.1 assists for Don Hale, but 4.0 TOs. Moss gets 3.6 steals.

I am on the moon with 3 others, including Hali. The Beor have learned many painful lessons.

“We first lived on the outer planet. Hundreds of years ago our ancestors destroyed that planet through denial regarding climate destruction. Our history tells us they were still in denial as their coastal cities went below the waters. By the time they finally woke up it was too late.

“We had the resources to send many tens of thousands of people to the inner planet. They took greater care of the environment but then conflict led to war.

“A few thousand people saw the inevitable and took ships to this moon. We are their descendants.

“We choose to live simple lives. We use technology, but only in limited ways. And we do not let our disagreements lead to conflict. We resolve them through a vote with the majority prevailing, and those in the minority accept the decision, although they often continue to advocate for their position.

“We have been on the moon for nearly 100 years, as you count time. And we live in harmony.”

#$@@#$Y**)(*^ I can't believe I did this again! I saved this under the name of the other association. Maddening! At least this time I can save the other one, but I've lost some stuff.

Wayne...If you open "Restore Backup" from the opening login page, can't you restore the association you messed up?

In this case I can. Last time it was too late. I'd gone way past that point. Just brain fog and not paying attention to how I'm saving.

1/8: 78-74 in a real battle at Michigan. Back and forth all the way. 23, 14, 3 for Ansa, 27, 3, 3, 3 for Moss. +17 RBs, +16 in the paint, and inside play was the difference.

81-80 in OT at Rutgers. This was a team we should have beaten easily, even on the road, but we didn't play very well. 21 lead changes, 14 ties. Joe Moss took it to overtime with a 20 footer off a double screen, and then he won it with the exact same play in OT. He had 37, 7, 2, 4, but 7 TOs. We controlled the paint but we were sloppy, with 20 TOs. Threes kept them in it, they had 9, we had 4.

57-62 at Nebraska. This is another team we should have beaten easily but we shot 30.6%, and had people in foul trouble all night. 14, 14, 4, 8 for Moss, but 7 TOs again, and as a team we had 21. They had 8 threes, we had 2. Not a good night.

81-67 in our only relatively easy game, over Maryland here. We led for the last 35 minutes. 15, 10, 6, 8, only 1 TO for Moss. 11, 10, 2, 3 for Ansa. 8 turnovers to 23.

We're really not playing very well but the Maryland game was encouraging.

The Beor are very friendly and accepting.

“We have learned some very hard lessons regarding greed, want, desire, and possessions. None of those things are important. We live very simply, leaving complex entertainments in the holo chambers where we spend our leisure time. In our real world we refuse to let disagreements destroy us, as they did in the past. All of our people behave as brothers and sisters and we make certain that all of our people live decent lives. No one is hungry. No one is without decent housing. Equally, no one is wealthy. We have our conflicts, of course. No society can completely eliminate those. But we will never allow our baser emotions to destroy this, our final world. We have learned the lessons that we did not learn in time to avoid destroying two home worlds.”

We ask if the Krai can move a contingent down to the moon.

“Let us get to know them before we decide. We are very careful.”

No one could be less intrusive than the Krai but we will let the Beor figure that out for themselves.

1/22: 81-65 over #5 Wisconsin at home. BIG win! We were down 1 at the half then scored 52 in the 2nd. 29, 7, 6, 5 for Moss, 11, 10, 4, 4 blocks for Casp. +18 in the paint.

Another great win, 69-58 at #9 Iowa. We led nearly all the way in this one.28, 8, 7, 7 for Moss, who is a legitimate super star. 16, 9 for Casp. Firm control inside but we were sloppy again, 18 TOs. WAY too many TOs so far this season.

An easy 73-45 win over Minnesota here in East Lansing. We led all the way. 30 and 9 for Moss. +22 RBs. Only 9 TOs.

69-46 in the rematch with Rutgers. We came out very determined and held them to 14 first half points. 15, 13 for Ansa, 11, 13, 3, 3 blocks for Casp, 18, 0, 5 for PG Don Hale. Moss was in foul trouble all night and had only 11, 6, 2, 3. We owned the paint.

We're alone in first in the Big 10. 18-2, 7-1, ranked #1, NET #2 behind Kansas, who beat us by 2 in early December.

The Beor send representatives up to our ship. For some reason they have been reluctant to do that. We invited them but never pushed it.

They seem to like what they see. They are asking lots of questions about our dining halls and food preferences, and then about how to grow the crops that lead to these foods. We may be here awhile if they decide they want to move in the direction of growing these crops and creating these food choices. We will, of course, offer our assistance.

They are also very interested in our holos. We have a far wider variety of programs, and our programs are much more sophisticated than theirs are. We will work with their engineers in helping them to develop many of these programs, as well as developing the technology to be able to offer more sophisticated programs of their own.

2/5: 65-56 at Indiana. We were sluggish on O. It was tied at the half. Our D held them to 22 in the 2nd. 19, 7, 4, 6 for Moss, 19, 9 for Ansa. Terribly sloppy game, we had 20 TOs and they had a miserable 32!

71-85 at #11 Ohio ST on a night when we played awful D. They shot 49%, 50% on threes. The refs were awful. They took 40o free throws. Both Casp and Hale fouled out and I got a T. 18, 8 for Moss. 26 TOs, which is simply unacceptable. Practice will not be fun for the next few days!

78-73 over #14 Iowa here. They led by 11 early; we got it to 4 at the half and then played better in the 2nd. 14, 11 for Casp. Moss was in foul trouble most of the way. +14 inside. 16 TOs so we're not getting much better. They had 24.

90-58 in the rematch with Nebraska here. They won at their place and we weren't about to let it happen again. We led all the way. 32, 3, 5, 3 blocks for Moss, 13, 12 for Ansa, 12, 2, 8, 3 for Hale. But 17 turnovers.

21-3, 10-2, 1 up on 3 teams. #2 ranked, #3 NET. Kansas is #1 in both and Alabama is #2 NET.

Joe Moss is #2 on the Norton list. Rod Ansa is #16 and Jev Casp is #20.

Joe Moss: I'm one and done, but I'm sure having a lot of fun in my year here at Michigan State. I think we have a real shot at winning it all!

The Beor allow the Krai to send a group down to settle on the planet.

The Beor continue to pick our brains regarding crops and food prep and we have some people on their moon helping with that.

Their geeks are working on replicating our holo programs. They are interested in a very wide variety of programs. We find it interesting that they have a particular fascination with our... “romantic” programs. They want to adapt them to their own particular... “needs,” which is kind of understandable, but they also want to make exact copies of some of our programs. There are some subtle anatomical differences between our species and theirs but they want what they want. We are not censors so we are happy to accommodate them.

2/23: 89-70 over #7 Purdue here. 23, 11 for Casp, 12, 8, 4 for Ansa. Moss had an off night, 3-10. Total control inside.

79-75 at Minnesota. We led all the way, and by as many as 18, but we faded at the end and they almost caught us. They missed an open 12 footer at the end.
22, 5, 6, 4 for Moss, 18, 14 for Casp. Big edge inside again but they shot 50.9% and made 11 threes.

An easy 71-52 win at Penn ST. We were never in danger. 22, 3, 6, 6 for Moss, 18, 8 for Ansa. A big advantage inside.

A narrow 67-62 win over a poor Northwestern team here. We couldn;t get the O going tonight, and only took the lead for good in the final minutes. 21, 4, 8, 7 for Moss, 16, 13, 3 for Ansa, 14, 8 for Casp. We owned the paint.

We're averaging 15 TOs a game and that will hurt us badly if we can't do better.

Joe Moss is #3, Rod Ansa #16, and Jev Casp #20 on the Norton list.

The Krai tell us that they are very happy t=with the settlement on the moon. They now have settlements on three worlds and they are in telepathic communication among all three. It seems, somehow, that telepathic communication transcends the limits of light speed, and it is all but instantaneous. Our physicists are studying this but they are mystified so far.

We continue to work with the Beor.

3/4: 67-76 at #4 Wisconsin. They led most of the way. 20 turnovers. 37.3% shooting. 24 fouls called against us. 27, 6, 5, 6 for Moss, 16, 9 for Casp. They're a very good team.

80-75 in a tough game at Maryland. We led all they way but they stayed within reach. 23, 8, 5, 6 for Moss. Strong inside presence but 18 TOs.

A walk in the park over Indiana here, 80-47. 24, 7, 4 for Moss, 17, 0, 9 for Hale, 15, 7 for Ansa. Only 7 TOs.

We ended the regular season with a 71-59 win over #21 Illinois here. Up only 2 at the half. 19, 11, 4, 3, 5 blocks for moss, 18, 10 for Ansa, 11, 10, 3, 3, 6 blocks for Casp. Only 10 TOs.

We end the regular season at 28-4, 17, 3. We win the Big 10 by 2 over 2 teams. #2, NET #2, behind Kansas.

+11.4 PPG, +10.5 RBs, #1 in RBs and RB margin. -5.1 TOs but an awful 14.9. +5 assists.

Moss leads us with 20.5. He has strong stats across the board. Casp leads in RBs with 9.1. Ansa gets 8.2.
