3/10: We play #4 seed Northwestern in the semis. We won by only 4 at home a couple weeks ago. On paper we're a lot better, especially on the boards.

Game time: Big early lead. Up 19 after 10. 46-15 at the half. Stifling D! They shot 20.7%. We scored at will, 60%. +11 RBs. We're running away from them in the 2nd.

84-47. 24, 0, 5 for Oslo, Huge advantage inside. 9 TOs.

3/11: #3 seed, #9 ranked Illinois, 25-7, 14-6, for the title. We won by 7 there, then by 13 here. We're a big favorite but we expect a tough game.

Game time: We take an early lead then they come back. Tied after 10. 39-33 at halftime. Hark has 10, but 3 fouls. 25 fouls called in the first half, which is outrageous. We go on a big run, Up 24 with 10 to play.

76-58. We were in total control. 12, 9, 3 blocks for Sona. Big edge inside.

Lano Mati, who plays very little, hurt his knee and is out for a week and a half.

The bubbles remain. The people in them, the ones on land, are exploring farther away from where the original crews explored. There is a lot to see. The submarine is also travelling to uncharted waters.

Humans have always been absolutely fascinated by dinos and this opportunity is extremely exciting for nearly everyone.

3/12: #1 East, #1 overall. We're only ranked #3, but #1 NET. We play #16, play in winner Northern Iowa, 19-15.

3/16: It's close early. Up only 1 after 10. 33-27 at the half. Those guys are playing hard! Up only 4 with 10 left. Tied with under 3 left.

3/16: 64-59. We scored the last 5 points. Whew! We shot only 34.9% to their 44.2%, and we had 2 threes to their 6. +11 at the line was the
big difference, and we were better inside. Tough, tough game though. 15, 8 for Sona, 11, 2, 5, 3 for Gare.

If we want to win it all we need to play a lot better than this!

3/17: It's #8 seed NC ST, 25-10, in Round 2. We're a big favorite, but they're 6-3 vs. ranked teams.

3/18: Close early. Up 8 after 10. Then we go on a big run. 55-27 at the half. This one is essentially over but I need to keep my guys focused.

We're shooting 53.7% to their 33.3%. +17 RBs, +24 inside. 4 TOs. Up 24 with 10 to go.

85-64. We played much better tonight. 17, 9, 3, 3 blocks for Sona. 11, 13, 3 for Hark, 12, 6, 3, 4 blocks for Ansa. Huge advantage inside,
+38 in the paint+24 RBs. 10 TOs.

3/22: 3 of the 4 brackets held, and the 4th had only one upset. We play #4 seed, #10 ranked Iowa, 25-11. We won by 11 there, 10 at our place, so two relatively close games. We're favored. We think we're better on the boards but we'd better play well! It's hard to beat a good team 3 times.

3/23: Down 2 after 10. 27-25 at the break in a very defensive game. We're shooting 33.3% to their 39.1%. But we took 13 more shots. It's staying close! Up 1 with 10 to play. I go to a full court press every time with 6 to play. It's working! Big late run!

65-51 but it took a long time! 15 for Sona, 11, 5 for Oslo. They shot 31.5% but we heated up in the 2nd and shot 42.6% for the game. +20 in the paint, 7 fewer TOs.

3/24: We play #3 seed, #6 ranked Purdue, 30-6, in the Elite 8. We beat them there in OT in our only meeting. The stats are pretty close except for rebounding, where we hold a big advantage. We'll need it!

3/25: They score the first 9. We're way down, by 13 after 10. 34-41 at halftime. They're outplaying us. We need to step it up or the season will be over.

“You know what's at stake here. Step it up, guys!”

We're playing catch up and not getting there. Down 8 with 10 to go. Big comeback! Tied with 6 to play.

69-77. They came back late. They were better tonight. Damn! They out shot us and played us even inside and outside.

My 9th national title has been extremely elusive.

4/3: #1 Kansas beats Purdue for the national title.

4/4: Awards: Only Jev Casp is recognized, 2nd team in the Big 10. Seems like a slight considering we won the title.

4/9: I don't expect to go anywhere.

I'm staying.

4/23: I ask for a budget increase.

We get $25,000.

34-3, Elite 8. Record for 40 seasons: 1280-249, .837.

5/1: Preseason #1. #2 recruiting class.

The last group of explorers are down on the planet. Everyone who wanted to get down there is either down there now or has been and is back. We'll probably be moving on sometime relatively soon.

5/29: Nobody transferred out so we have no open roster spots.

We're planning to leave the dino planet, for the 2nd time, in about a week. We've learned about everything there is to learn and we've been all over the planet.

6/6: Bye bye, dino planet. We'll never forget you, and we'll be watching videos and reading about what we found forever.

6/25: We're going to Indy and to all of the regional camps.

6/26: 3 scholarships. We need bigs.

7/11: Things are going smoothly onboard. Clearly some of our people would have stayed on the dino planet permanently had there been a way to do so.

8/7: 5 on the Norton list: C Del Graw is #2, PF Jay Mile #10, PF Max Hark #11, PG Kev Oslo #20, C Rod Ansa #42.

8/21: We offer to 3 PFs. We are HIGH on each of their lists.

9/11: We get the #1 overall recruit!

The biggest new fascination on the ship is groups that meet to watch dino videos, discuss reports from those who went down to the planet, and just simply talk about dinos. And the new holo programs related to the dino planet and dinos in general or off the charts busy.

9/18: We get #15 and #26.

No in season tourney for the 2nd straight year. We're not happy with that and there's lots of criticism of the A. D. who frankly, could be working harder! Our schedule isn't as challenging as I wanted it to be. Time to use my influence to get him fired and to get a new and hopefully better A. D.? I need to think about that. This guy is all about football, and not that interested in my program, but the football coach isn't crazy about him either.

Some people want dino holo programs with the danger filters reduced or eliminated. Bad idea.

9/22: “No! We can't have people eaten alive by dinosaurs. It makes no sense.”

“I'm betting we all agree we're not going to eliminate the danger filters, but I think we should consider reducing them so there is some level of danger. If people want that, as long as it's a reasonable level of danger, why should we stop them?”

“Because there is NO reasonable level of danger!”

“Oh come on, Mick. We can put in something to ramp up the excitement level!”

It went on like that for quite some time. Finally, we voted to slightly increase the amount of danger for those who wanted it. We'll have the geeks work on that, then we'll test it extensively with robots before we implement it as a choice.

10/2: First day of practice. Anything less than a national title will be an unsuccessful season.

10/20: The geeks have the first approximation on increasing the danger in one of the holo dino programs. A few robots will test it.

10/21: Robots killed by dinos very quickly. Danger level too high. We're 3D printing replacement robots. And no, our robots are not sentient. Sentient computers and robots were produced for awhile 20 or so years ago but the complications were enormous. We're not doing that any more.

10/29: 2nd attempt re dino holo programs.

10/30: Dinos destroyed, but more slowly. Still too much danger though.

11/12: Here's the lineup:

Soph Kev Oslo is back at PG. His D could be better but everythign else is solid.

Junior Don Gare is back at SG. He looks VERY good.

#3 guard is junior Don Hale, who handles the ball really well. #4 is junior Jam Edds, who plays great D. Last guard is frosh Rob Wilx who I should have red shirted.

We're giving 4 big men equal time inside:

Senior Max Hark is back at SF.

Frosh Jay Mile is at PF. He looks like a terrific scorer and a better rebounder.

Frosh Del Graw is at C, and will very likely be our best player.

Senior Rod Ansa will sub at all three positions and get about equal time with the starters, at least for now.

2nd big off the bench is soph Lano Mati. He can play but not at the level of the guys ahead of him. Senior Do John would start for a lot of teams. Soph Mike Deon isn't there yet. Frosh Ike Davy has potential.

11/24: We open with a 74-61 win over Louisville here. We led all the way. 19, 8 for Graw. +28 in the paint. 13 fewer TOs.

The full house home crowd loved it.

89-63 over NC ST here. They stayed reasonably close for about 25 minutes and then we ran away with it. 23, 15, 3, 6 blocks for Graw, 13, 8 for Ansa, very good guard play. +31 RBS! 11 TOs.

82-58 over #4 ranked West Virginia at home. It was never close. 13, 5, 5, 2, 3 for Gare, 10, 14 for Graw. +22 in the paint, +16 RBs, 11 TOs.

Newest tweak to the dino holo program. No robots destroyed. Some close calls, but that's what people who opt for this are looking for.

We're going to continue to test for a while longer but this may be it. If so, the rest of the rest of the holo dino programs will be worked on. Remember, increasing the danger is just an option. People can, and most will, use the programs with all of the safeguards in place. Those who opt for greater danger will get it and some will inevitably be seriously injured or will die as a result of that choice. Our aim is to keep the casualties low.
