3/17: #8 seed Oklahoma, 22-13, in round 2. They seem to be a bit better outside but we're a lot better inside. But our bench is very short.

3/18: We score the first 14. Up 13 after 10. 48-35 at halftime. 19, 6 for Wrig. We had only 2 TOs. Up 20 with 10 to go.

91-61. 32, 11 for Wrig, playing out of position at C. 16, 7 for Brad Wilk from the bench. +32 in the paint, 5 TOs.

3/22: The brackets are really holding, all the #1, 2, and 3 seed are in, with 2 #4s, 2 #5s.

We play #5 seed, #21 ranked Butler, 24-11, in the Sweet Sixteen. We beat them by 11 here way back in November. Another team that is better outside than inside.

3/23: “You need to stay on top of their outside shooters.”

They take a lead midway through. We come back. 53-48. The first half was a real shoot out. They shot 55.2%, we shot 63.6%. 17, 6 for

Wrig who really seems to like playing C. 11 for Wilk. Their SF has 20. +16 in the paint.

97-78 as we got really hot late. 29, 12, 2, 3 for Wrig, 15, 4 for Cort, 14 for Wilk. We owned the paint.

Some people taking shore leave on the planet are developing an itchy rash, on the last day on the planet. Our medical people have not yet found a cause.

“It seems like some type of allergy.”

Only a few are getting it. The Council is not suspending shore leave.

3/24: #3 seed, #10 ranked, #6 NET Arkansas, 27-10, in the Elite 8. Once again, the other team's outside game vs. our inside game. We think we have a big edge on the boards.

Two games are #1 vs. #2, the other 2 are #1 vs. #3.

Game time: It's close early. Down 4 after 10. 38-37 at the half. 15, 7 for Wrig, 12 for Brad Wilk. +20 in the paint. But they're hanging with us. Up 7 with 10 to play; it's a game!

83-69. 31, 9, 3 assists, 3 blocks for Wrig. 18, 14, 3, 3 for Wams, 14, 5 for Wilk. We dominated inside, +30 down low, +9 RBs.

Ed Bute will be back for our next game! I'm keeping Wrig at C and will play Bute at PF.

More cases of the allergic reaction for those taking shore leave. All shore leaves are cancelled while the medics see if they can figure this out.

3/31: We play #3 seed, #16 ranked, #12 NET Louisville, 27-10, in the national semifinal. Their starting PF and best rebounder is out with a torn MCL. So both teams are missing a key player. They're 3-7 vs. ranked teams. We think we're the better team so we just need to play our game.

4/1: They take an early lead. Tied after 10. Then they take a lead again. 40-44 at the half. They're shooting 50%, we're shooting 46.9%. They're going to the line more, 17 times to our 10.

“You need to play D!”

We take the lead early in the 2nd. Up only 2 with 10 to play.

85-74 but we didn't sew it up until the last 2 minutes. 14, 3, 7, 6 for Tigs, 15, 6, 5 blocks for Wrig, 15, 7 for Wams, 134, 10 for Bute.

#2 ranked, #2 NET Maryland, 36-3, defending champsand the team I coached last season, for the national title. They play a little better D, we rebound a little better but this will be all about who has the better night.

4/3: We take the lead fairly early. Up 15 after 10; we're cooking. 50-27 at the half; not the game I expected. We're shooting 57.6% to their
30.3%. 13, 6 for Wams, but he has 3 fouls. Only 6 TOs and we're playing better inside.

“This isn't over yet. They can be explosive. Play good D!”

We're holding them off early in the 2nd. Up 17 with 10 to play. Up 16 with 5 to go. And with 2 minutes left the subs are in!

84-64 and my 8th title! 25, 13 for Wrig, 18, 8, 7 for Tigs, 13, 10 for Wams. +15 RBs, +14 in the paint.

“Coach, you're famous for winning and then moving on to another team. Will you do that this year?”

“No idea, Kelly. It depends on what I get for offers. My mind is open and my bags are packed!”

4/4: Awards: Mak Wrig is NCAA tourney MOP and 2nd team All American. I am national COY. In the PAC-12, Wrig is POY and 1st team along with Kev Wams, and Ed Bute makes the 2nd team. I am conf. COY.

4/9: Stay or go? Let's see what happens!

Going to Virginia, the #3 ranked team, with everyone coming back except one starter, and a great recruiting class.

4/23: I ask for a budget increase.

We get $20,000. That will allow us to go to all the camps.

Undefeated season at Arizona, 38-0. 1059-203, .839 for 34 seasons.

Our medical people and our botanists and other plant scientists, human and robotic, can find no cause for the allergic reactions some people are having on the planet. Still working on it.

5/1: #6 preseason. #7 recruiting class.

New team so we may well lose some people.

“Look, it's really simple. We don't know what's causing the allergic reaction. Send a couple of geeks down there in hazmat suits, with a couple of robots programmed to create new holo programs. Have them size the place up the best they can, and create a new holo program that simulates the planet as closely as possible. Shore leave right on the ship.”

That's what we did.

5/7: We leave the planet and its solar system.

5/18: Things remain peaceful on the ship.

5/29: We lose a guard who would have gotten minutes. We need a guard.

Round 1: We offer to an SG who has us in his Top 5. We don't get him.

Round 2: We offer to a PG, a B. No.

Round 3: We offer to an SG, a B. No.

Round 4: We offer to an Sg who's a C. Got him.

6/25: We'll go to all the camps.

6/26: 2 scholarships. We want a big and a guard.

8/7: PF Fred Anso is #6 on the Norton list. C Do Pore is #45.

8/21; We offer to a PG and a PF.

8/23: The new shore leave holo program is extremely popular. I don't get it. It seems to me that we have other, similar programs that are just as good or better.

9/18: Got both, a PG, #2, and a PF, #21.

Going to the Coaches Classic. Tough schedule.

10/2: First day of practice. I'm not sure we're good enough to contend for a national title and we are NOT deep.

11/11: Here's the lineup, for now:

There's some competition at PG.

Senior Don Blay will start, but soph Jon Reva, a transfer from Eastern Michigan, will get equal minutes. Let's see who wants it more!

Soph Velo Ausk starts at SG, as he did last season.

#4 guard is frosh Rash Wole, who really isn't ready, and last is junior Miah Boon.

Soph Jeff Wats is at SF. He may be our weakest starter.

Senior Fred Anso, our best player, is at PF. He's a four year starter.

Frosh Do Pore is at C. He looks like he does a lot of things well.

We don't have much depth inside. 1st off the bench is frosh Rui Leti, and his D is weak. Soph Pat Hino isn't ready. Finally, frosh Ty Dend really isn't ready.

Injuries will absolutely destroy us so let's hope we're lucky in that regard.

11/12: We start tomorrow at the Coaches Classic vs. Sam Houston ST. We're the #2 seed and they're #15. We don't expect much of a challenge.

11/13: We fall behind early. 44-48 at the half; we never led. Terrible D, but it's a shootout. We're shooting 60% to their 64.5%. They are 6-7 on threes, which is more than the difference. Sloppy game, too. 15 for Ausk, 11 for Anso. We come out fast in the 2nd and take our first lead.

91-84. 24, 6, 2, 5 for SG Velo Ausk. 15, 5 for Anso. The other starters had 13, 12, and 10.

We didn't look good against a very mediocre team. Our D was awful.

11/14: #7 seed Temple in the round of 8. They are excellent outside. We think we're better inside.

This one will tell us some things about how good we are.

11/15: They take a quick lead. Down 3 after 10. They go on a run.32-44 at halftime. My team does not play good D! 14, 9 for Anso but they're shooting 50% to our 34.2%. Down 5 with 10 to go. Then it's back and forth.

85-71. We played really good ball in the last 5 minutes or so. 27, 17 for Anso, 23, 9, 3, 3 for Pore. +20 in the paint and only 2 TOs.

I recently did some “jamming” with some other musicians and we decided we wanted to do some entertaining. We're booked to play a couple of times a week at “All American,” the dining hall on deck 9. It should be fun!
