1/9: 72-60. Good start, for once. Up 4 after 10. Up 18 at the half. Finally playing well! Up 15 with 10 to play. Finally a win!

20, 7, 5, 3 steals for Thop, 16, 6 for Bond, 13, 9, 3, 3 steals for Watt, 14, 4 for King.

+7 RBs, 12 TOs, to 19. Shooting pct. Was about even, and we were +12 from the line, the margin of victory.

Post Game Press Conference (Excerpts): Q: Coach Clark, it's been a rough patch. What does tonight's win mean?

Coach: Hopefully it means we're on the comeback trail. We've had a rough time of it, but I believe in these kids. Hopefully this win will help them to believe in themselves.

Q: What lies ahead?

Coach: Well, until we get Juwan back we'll struggle, win some, lose some. Josh Watt is doing fine starting, but the bench is mighty thin, and Josh made a huge difference coming in from the bench. We don't have that now, and we won't have it for 3 more weeks.

Q: Can you keep the players' spirits up?

Coach: We're going to do everything we can to do just that.

At 9-7, 2-1 Hartford next. This one could be tough. They're strong inside, and can score from all 5 positions.

1/12: 88-82. Back and forth early. Up 5 after 10. We go on a mini-run. Up 12 at the half. Up 14 with 10 to go. This one was all offense, a real shootout.

22, 2, 6 for PG Del King. 14, 9 for Watt, 12, 6 for 6th man Josh Cobb.

+3 RBs and only 11 TOs, to 22. We shot 50%. They shot 57.1% but we were +13 at the line.

We're 10-7, 2-2.

5-11, 2-1 Stony Brook is at our place next. They'll give us a real battle inside but we think we're better outside. They have a good bench so hopefully Cobb and Miki will step up. They turn it over often.

1/16: 81-66. Down 4 after 10. Up 18 at the half after a late run. Up 21 with 10 left. We seem to have turned things around. Looking good.

23, 9, 5, 3 steals for Thop, 23, 4, 4 for Wall, 11, 3, 5 for Watt.

+8 RBs. 16 TOs but they had 20. We shot an excellent 56.6% to 46.2%. +12 in the paint.

At 5-12, 2-2 Albany. They have a good inside game, but we feel like we're better at 1, 2, and 3. We should be able to turn them over.

Just a handful of moons to still check out. Everyone is talking about Jupiter, and what we may discover.

1/19: 59-80. Down early, by 9 after 10. Down 20 at the half; we scored 16. Getting beat up good and proper. No offense and damned little defense.

13 each for King and Thop, 10, 7 for Bond.

We shot 30.8% to 50.9%. We got hammered inside, -16 in the paint. NOT a good night.

UMBC is her next. They're 11-8, 3-2. They're favored. On paper they're better.

Lacy and I are spending even more time watching Jupiter, it's big and there's a lot going on, even aside from the monster hurricane. It really is fascinating. Oh, and she loves my piano playing. I serenade her, usually with the classics but sometimes with some very melodious pop songs, old and new.

1/23: 91-73. Good start, up 10 early. Up 12 after 10. Up 17 at the half. Up 15 with 10 left. Great win. Most points all season.

King had a night, 33, 3, 5. 13, 0, 10 for Thop. The backcourt really got it done!

12 TOs, to 22. We shot 50% to 42.3%.

Back up guard Tony, John, who rarely plays, strained a hammy. Out for about a week.

12-8, 4-3, tied for 3rd place, 2 back of 1st.

At 11-9, 4-3 Binghamton. They can be tough inside and they're probably the best defenders in the AEC. This will be a challenge.

1/30: 74-72. Down 2 after 10. They go on a mini-run. Down 7 at the half. Down 5 with 10 to play. Back and forth. Really happy with this win. 17 lead changes, 8 ties, and the lead changed with nearly every possession in the last 2-3 minutes. The fans were on their feet screaming for that whole time.

19, 4, 5 with 3 steals for Thop. 11, 1, 5 for King, 10, 5, 3, 3 steals for Cobb.

10 TOs to 22! We shot only 38.1% to 52.8%, but we took 10 more shots, and we were +17 from the line. +10 in the paint.

At LONG LAST Juwan Lee is back! Watt will go back to being our 6th man.

10-11, 7-1, 1st place New Hampshire next, there. They crushed us by 25 at our place so we're expecting a tough game. Plus, Lee probably will be showing some rust. On paper it should be competitive. King will need to step up, but the stats are pretty even.

At our place they beat us at the line, 21-28 to 9-13, and from the bench.

2/2: 84-81. They take an early lead. Down only 1 after 10. We go on a mini-run. Up 6 at the half. Tied with 10 to play. It's a battle! HUGE win!

28, 6 for Wyatt Bond, in his best game ever for us. 21, 1, 5 for King. 14, 10 for Wall. 10, 9 for Lee; yes, he was rusty, but this was a great first game back.

+3 RBs. Both teams had 15 TOs. Shooting pct. was almost even but we took 5 more shots and made 3 of them. We had 7 threes to 5; -5 at the line.

A huge stat was +15 on 2nd chance points. Every time we got an offensive rebound we made a basket.

We're alone in 3rd, one back of 1st.

7-15, 2-7 NJIT is here. They won by 13 there. They turned us over 22 times, and that was the big difference. That and they controlled the paint.

We need to do better with ball control, better inside, and our bench needs to step up.

Their starting PG is hurt. If he plays his effectiveness will be limited.

2/6: 80-65. Lee scores the 1st 10 points in the game. Up early. +8 after 10. Up only 4 at the break. Mini-run! Up 12 with 10 to go. Right now we believe, and we're playing like it!

20 and 8, with 3 steals and 3 blocks for Lee. 12, 9 for Wall, 13, 6 for Bond.

+2 RBs, 9 TOs (We had 22 last time) to 17. Shooting pct. was about even but we took 11 more shots and made 6 of them. We controlled the paint, +18,
+9 2nd chance points.

We're in a 3 way tie for 1st with 6 to play. 15-8, 7-3, NET #138.

At 6-17, 2-8 Maine. We won by 12 at our place. Our guards owned theirs. This is a road game we have a shot at if we play well.

2/9: 73-80. Tied after 10. Down 7 at the half. Down 17 with 10 left. We fell too far behind.

12, 13 for Lee, 13, 7, 3, 3 steals for Bond, 12 for Watt. Our guards, who did so much the first time we played these guys. Did very little tonight.

We shot 42.9% to their 58.3%. They were +16 in the paint.

15-9, 8-3, tied for 1st Hartford is here next. We won by 6 there.

We lost the guard we've been chasing for months. Re-opening the search.

2/13: 91-76. Up 1 after 10. Lots of lead changes. Down 1 after a real war in the 1st half. Down to with 10 to play. Late run for us. Took us a long time to get control.

33, 4, 3 for Bond; great game! 17, 5, 9 for Thop, 13, 3, 6, with 3 steals for King.

+6 RBs, 12 TOs. We shot 54% to 45.9%.

In a 3 way tie for 2nd, 1 back of New Hampshire. 4 to play.

At 9-15, 6-5 Stony Brook. We won by 15 at home. We're stronger outside and we rebound better. Their SF is their scorer; he got 31 against us last time. No one else did much though.

We have checked out the last moon. Now we're getting into the planetary orbit we want, which, as I've said, is a very delicate process.
