Round 1: We offer to a B and 2 As. All longshots. 0-3.

Round 2: We offer to 3 Bs. We get a PG and a PF. Both will play significant minutes. We want one more big man.

Round 3: We offer to a B. Got him, he's a PF.

6/1: Battle of Belleau Wood begins.

The “Spanish flu” is raging worldwide.

6/3: SCOTUS rules child labor illegal.

6/15: “After You've Gone” is the latest hit song.

6/26: 3 scholarships. We want 1 guard, 2 big men.

6/30: Eugene V. Debs is arrested for criticizing the U. S. government.

9/11: Red Sox win the World Series.

9/18: We lose 1 recruit.

No in season tournament. Competitive schedule.

9/25: We get the C, #139, and we lose a PF.

10/2: We get the PF and the SG.

First day of practice. We look good!

The tide of battle is turning heavily against the Germans.

10/31: “Spanish flu” kills 21,000 people in the U. S. in one week.

11/9: Kaiser Wilhelm abdicates. The German government collapses and the troops are in disarray.

11/11: Armistice. The war is over.

Poland declares independence, immediately begins persecuting Jews.

11/12: Here's the lineup:

We're going with 3 guards playing about equal minutes at PG and SG.

Soph Mal Flin, who started at Butler last season, starts at the Point.

Junior Pat Dunn is back at SG.

#3 guard Tony Larn, a soph who started for us last season plays equal minutes, some of them at SF.

#4 guard is senior Jeoy Mell whose defense is weak. #5 is frosh Zach Sann, who has great potential. The last guard is frosh Mal Reed, who has a lot of work to do!

Junior Glen Topp starts at SF. He has looked very good in practice.

Junior Marq Qual is back at PF. He is our best player.

Senior Hege Pefo is in the middle and looks very good.

First big man off the bench is soph Jon Pell, who could start if need be. Second is Ben Hamm, a senior who is also good enough to start. Next comes soph Ed Leis who started for the Provocation Fryers last season.

We are deep both inside and out. We are favored to win Conf. J.

11/27: 4 wins.

First was an 80-58 thrashing of Chattanooga there. 26, 4 for Qual, 17, 11 for Pefo. +24 inside, -11 turnovers.

89-72 in our home opener versus UAB. +28 in the paint, 10 fewer turnovers. 6th man F/C Jon Pell hurt his back and is out for 5 weeks or so. Ben Hamm will get his minutes.

96-73 over LSU here. 29, 11, 4 for Qual, 19, 3, 4 for SF Glen Topp. 18, 5 for Hamm in his first game as sixth man. 7 turnovers!

88-73 at Kona. We came back from being down 8 early in the second half. 19, 13 for Pefo, 20, 7 for Qual. +21 rebounds.

We are beating up some good teams.

12/1: Iceland gains independence.

12/4: Pres. Wilson becomes first U. S. President to travel to Europe while in office.

12/18: 84-61 over a decent Minnesota team here. 26, 13 for Qual.

A hard fought win, 80-72, at Colorado. We played really well late, and made 5-6 free throws in the last minute. Qual was in foul trouble all night. We won it inside.

A 104-62 thrashing of Western KY here. 27, 7, 4 for Qual, 13, 1, 10 for Dunn. +16 for the bench. A VERY weird stat, they had a total of 10 rebounds for the game!

76-64 at Siena but we led all the way. +9 for the bench, and that was most of the difference. Solid inside play and 9 fewer turnovers.

We're 8-0 but not ranked yet.

Sixth man Jon Pell will miss one more game but Ben Hamm has been very good filling in.

1/6/1919: Former President Theodore Roosevelt dies.

1/8: 87-70 over Rutgers here. 22, 15 for Qual, 15, 8, 6, 5, 3 for Pefo.

Pell is back.

72-67 in a rematch at Minnesota. This was back and forth all the way. We went on a late run, built a game high 12 point lead and they couldn't come back. 24, 5, 2, 5 for Dunn, 14, 7, 3, 3 for Qual. Pell looked rusty.

We end pre-conference play with an 84-63 blowout over Davidson here. 121, 11, 3 for Pefo, 16, 6 for Qual, 14, 3, 5 for Dunn.

We are 11-0, ranked #24, NET #4, which is WAY too high.

+18.7 PPG, #3 in scoring. +8.6 RBs, -6 turnovers but 12.8 is too many. +7.9 assists, #3 in assists. +5.2 steals, #1 in steals.

Qual leads us with 20.1 PPG, 8.0 rebounds. Pefo gets 7.6 rebounds and is second in points with 12.7.

1/9: Russian civil war is ongoing.

1/15: Great molasses flood kills 21 in Boston. A molasses factory explodes and a flood of 2 million gallons of molasses goes down the street drowning 21 people.

1/16: 18th Amendment, Prohibition, is ratified.

1/19: Paris Peace Conference opens.

The first hit song of 1919 is “I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.”

We now own a radio. The reception is not very good, but when it is, this is a wonderful machine!

The “Spanish flu” rages on, killing huge numbers of people.

1/22: 4 blowouts to begin Conf. J play.

First was an 85-62 win over Tulane here. 28, 13, 3 for Pefo, 15, 9 for Qual. Never a game.

87-51 ay Boston U. Up 22 at the half. 20, 12 for Qual, 12, 13, 3, 4, 4 for Pefo. +25 rebounds.

82-55 over Western Michigan here. No competition in this one., The 5 starters had between 10 and 13; 2 subs had 8 each.

89-43 over Arkansas ST here. It was over early. 29, 9 for Qual. +23 for the bench. +24 in the paint.

II am not certain whether we are playing the easy teams early or perhaps we will simply overwhelm the conference.

1/25: League of Nations formed in Paris.

1/29: One of the recruits we offered to did not hit our SAT score. We offer to a PG.

2/5: 4 more wins but some competition in one of them.

80-62 at New Orleans. This one was easy. 22, 3, 1, 3, 3 for Qual, 15, 16 for Pefo. We dominated inside.

90-67 over Missouri here. 56-30 at halftime. 23, 10, 2, 3 for Qual, The other starters had between 12 and 14.

95-68 at Seattle. Only up 8 at the half but 56-37 in the second. 24, 10, 4, 4, 4 for Pefo, 19, 3, 4 for SF Glen Topp. +17 for the bench. +30 in the paint.

Only 73-66 at Southern Methodist. We were down 9 early in the second. I called a time out, made a change on D and shouted quite a bit, and we woke up. 20,
2, 6, 3 for PG Mal Flin, 16, 4 for Pefo. 8 turnovers to 20. I think a bit of a scare was good for us.

We are 19-0, 8-0, in first by 2 games in Conf. J. #14, NET #9.

AMAZING! Totally surprising that people couldn't have fled and gotten away since we all know the flow was.........

(wait for it...wait for it)

.....slow as molasses.
