2/21: First tax on gasoline, one cent, in Oregon.

2/23: Benito Mussolini founds Fascist Party in Italy.

3/3: Russian civil war.

3/5: 94-65 at Long Beach ST. It was never a game. 18, 4, 3 for Topp.

Our first one possession game of the season ended 88-87 at Tulane. Marq Qual scored on an 8 footer. He was fouled hard but no call. Then they came down and couldn't get a good shot.

28, 8 for Qual, 13 each for Pefo, Dunn, and Pell. +28 in the paint. But we let them shoot 58.9%, the highest pct. against us all season, and we were -6 from the foul line.

We bounced back with a 106-70 shellacking of BU here. 24, 4 for Qual, 4 others in double figures. +28 in the paint and 8 turnovers.

We end the regular season and the conference undefeated with an 86-50 win at Western Michigan. 46-18 in the second half. 16, 8 for Pefo. As usual, we controlled the inside.

27-0, 16-0, 3 games up on NC-Wilmington, 5 or more over the rest. #6, NET #6.

+21.9 PPG< #1 in both points and margin. +11 rebounds, -6.2 turnovers, a decent 12.2. +7.5 assists, #2 in assists. #1 in overall NET Rating (different from NET).

18.5, 8.0 for Qual to lead us in both. Pefo is 2nd in scoring, 13.1, and also has 8.0 rebounds.

“A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody” is the new hit song.

3/6: We play #8 seed New Orleans, 16-12, 8-8, in the quarter finals. We won by 18 there, and we are a huge favorite to win again. Sixth man C/F Ben Hamm hurt his ankle and will not play much in the tournament. He should be fine after that, however.

Game time: We jump out to a lead immediately. 40-25 at the half.

77-67 but it was not that close. 24, 8 for Pefo, 11, 15, 4 for Qual. +15 rebounds but 18 turnovers.

3/7: #4 seed Western Michigan, 15-13, 10-6, in the semifinals. Beat them by 27 and 36. Unless we play very poorly we should win again.

Game time: Close early. Up only 4 after 10. 32-38 at the half. Poor shooting, 35.5%, worse defense, 48%. We're not playing well inside. We need to wake up! Down 3 with 10 to play. Mini-run gives us the lead.

75-65 but it was a struggle for quite some time! 26, 15 for Pefo. 9 turnovers to 20 and we controlled the inside.

3/8: #6 seed Central Florida, 19-12, 9-7, for the title. We did not play them in the regular season. We are a heavy favorite. We think we are better at every position.

Game time: Back and forth. Up 5 after 10. 45-33 at halftime. 7 players have between 9 and 4 points. +16 in the paint. We go on a big run early in the second, up 19 with 10 to play.

95-55, a total rout! 50-22 in the second half. 16, 6 for Qual, 12, 9 for tournament MOP Hege Pefo. +22 in the paint. 7 turnovers.

Bert Williams' “Ain't Nobody's Business But My Own” is the new hit song.

3/11: Heading for the NCAA tournament we are 30-1, 16-0, #6, NET #6. Dare we hope for a #2 seed?

The Russian civil war is raging.

3/12: #2 Midwest! Best seed we have ever received. We play #15 seed Chattanooga, 18-12. this is a team we should beat easily.

3/16: Big early lead. 47-29 at halftime. 20 for Qual. +16 in the paint. Up 21 with 10 to go.

85-63. Easy win, as expected. 26, 6 for Qual, 23, 8 for Pefo. +28 inside.

3/17: #7 seed Arkansas, 21-10, in the second round. They have played a much more challenging schedule than we have and are 5-3 against ranked teams. They do not score nearly as many points as we do but they have a very good outside game. This will very likely be challenging.

3/18: Early lead but it's close. A run puts us up by 9 after 10. 46-34 at the half. We're having very little difficulty scoring. Good inside play.
Up 8 with 10 to play.

88-78. They got it as close as 4 points twice in the later stages. 19, 14 for Qual, 14, 9 for Pefo, 16 each for Flin and Topp. +16 in the paint.

3/21: We're in the round of 16 for the fifth straight year! We face #13 ranked, #3 seed Maryland, 24-8. They are favored. 5-4 versus ranked teams. Very good outside with a world class SF. Excellent defenders. We score 13 more per game. This is the best team we have faced all season.

3/23: Slow start for both teams. Up 4 after 10. Close late in the half. 28-25 at halftime. Good defense or poor shooting? We're shooting 30.3% to their 25%. Qual has 3 fouls, as does their C. This one could go either way! Down 2 with 10 left. What a battle!

59-61. We missed our last 4 shots and they missed their last 5. The difference was on threes; they had 8, we had 3. This was winnable, which is very frustrating.

15, 5 for Pefo, 16, 3 for Qual. We had 9 fewer turnovers, but the game was essentially even inside. Their All American SF had 23 and 15, and their SG had 18 and 5. Pat Dunn was 0-8.

Oh well, great season!

3/25: League of Nations becomes a reality.

4/3: #2 Michigan ST is the champ.

4/4: Awards: Marq Qual is Conference J POY and first team. Hege Pefo is defensive POY and first team. I am COY for the conference.

4/5: Massacre of Jews in Pinsck.

4/9: I am not looking to move.

Team Prestige is 27.

Some extremely good teams are calling.

I say no to all of them.

4/10: Mexican revolutionary leader Zapata is assassinated.

“Spanish flu” is killing millions worldwide.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade.

Yes! C- to B-. Big help!

32-1, round of 18. Overall, after 18 seasons, 502-89, .849.

5/1: Recruit class #77. We jump to Conference G.

5/4: First legal Sunday baseball game in New York.

Sir Barton wins the Kentucky Derby on the way to the first ever Triple Crown.

5/15: Movements for women's suffrage in many countries.

5/23: UCLA opens.

5/29: We lose starting forward Jon Pell and 2 guards, one of whom would have played, one who would not have played.

We need 2 guards and a forward.

Pop up toaster invented.

Russian civil war continues.

Round 1: We offer to 3. 0-3.

Round 2: We offer to a PG who is an A but has us in his top 5! We offer to 2 Bs, one a PG, one a PF. We do not get the A but get both Bs. Neither will start. We need a good big man more than a guard.

Round 3: We offer to a Center, a B. Got him. He will get some minutes.

6/4: 19th Amendment guarantees Women's Suffrage in the U. S.

6/25: We will attend the East Coast Jam.

9/18: The #1 guy on our list, a C, #49, committed. We lose a PF.

Tip-Off in Paradise vs. #14 ranked UCLA. Fairly challenging schedule.

Babe Ruth, of the Red Sox sets the new home run record, 29.

9/25: We lose a guard.

10/2: First day of practice. We're good.

Still chasing two recruits.

President Wilson suffers a debilitating stroke. He is an invalid for the rest of his life and incapable of fulfilling his duties. His wife becomes the acting President, unofficially, of course.

10/9: We get the PF. Still after the PG, who has us at #2.

11/9: Felix the Cat debuts.

11/11: Here's the lineup:

Junior Tony Larn is back at PG, looking really good, especially on defense.

Junior Mal Flin is back at SG. He does everything well!

#3 guard is senior Pat Dunn, who started the last two seasons. He'll get all the minutes we can find for him. #4 is soph Jay Mahn, a really good transfer from
Kona. Last guard is frosh Ger Pryl, who has potential but is not ready.

Senior Geln Topp returns at SF. He looks really good.

Senior Marq Qual is back at PF. He is probably our best player.

Soph Cal Will, a transfer from Stanford where he started, is at C. He looks good!

First big man off the bench is soph Mura Suji, from Baylor, where he started. He can play. #2 is junior Ed Leis, who also can play. Next is soph Don Smey, who started at Alabama last season. Frosh Pat Lyde isn't ready, and neither is frosh Fred Robb.

We're good, we're deep, and we're picked to win Conf. G!

11/15: We open with a huge 84-44 win over Penn ST here. Senior PF Marq Qual led us with 22 and 16. 16, 8 for SF Gein Topp, 11, 11 for C Cal Will. 58 RBs! Only 7 TOs.

On to the Tip-Off in Paradise. We're the last seed and we start with #14 ranked UCLA, a challenge to say the least! They got absolutely hammered in their opener and they'll be motivated to turn that around. They played very poor D and we'll try to take advantage.
