3/16: Slow start for both teams. Up 1 after 10. 36-46 at halftime., I am NOT happy! 3 fouls for Rily and pathetic D; they're shooting 64.3%. We start the 2nd strong. Up 5 with 10 to play.

84-70. A tale of two halves. We were awful in the 1st, excellent in the 2nd (48-24). 18, 4, 7, 3 for Wats, 20, 7 for sub F/C Jay Wood, 17, 3, 4 for Maye, 15, 7 for Rily. Only 5 TOs.

#13 seed Radford, 23-8, upset #4. This is a team we should beat.

3/18: It's close early. Down 4 after 10; I'm trying to wake the guys up. 39-30. Good play late. Balanced scoring, only 4 TOs. We're playing really well in the paint. Up 10 with 10 to go. We go on a big run.

82-65. We took control late. 17, 7, 3, 4 for Rily, 15, 10 for Cage, 13, 6, 7 for Venn. 9 TOs and we controlled the inside.

It's #1 seed, #1 ranked UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen. Their starting SF is out with an ankle fracture. They won by 21 there, and by 7 at our place. We'll need to play a near perfect game and hope that they don't play well.

3/23: Close early. Down 4 after 10. 33-40. They're tough. We stayed within 4 for most of the half. Big run puts them up 17 with 10 left.

65-82. They're really good. Their SG went wild in the 2nd, wound up with 33, 11, 6, 3.

Last game for starters Wats and Rily, subs Wood and Crow. Good frosh coming in though.

4/3: #4 Villanova upsets UCLA for the title.

4/4: Awards: We get shut out. No surprise.

4/9: I expect to stay another year.

Some tempting offers but I'm staying.

4/23: I ask for a facilities upgrade.

No.

23-11, 7-9, Sweet 16. Overall, 725-135, .843.

I expect a better year next year.

5/1: Recruiting class #33.

Buck vs. Bell permits involuntary sterilization for people with intellectual disabilities.

5/21: Charles Lindbergh makes the first nonstop flight from New York to Paris.

5/23: First live demonstration of television.

5/27: The final Model T comes off the assembly line.

5/29: We lose a forward who would have started.

6/9: We get a very good C who will start.

6/26: 3 scholarships. We need 1 guard, 2 bigs.

8/2: Coolidge announces that he will not run for POTUS in 1928.

8/7: Jay Cage is #31 on the Norton list.

8/21: We offer to an SG, a PF, and a C.

8/23: Sacco and Vanzetti are executed.

9/18: 2 great recruits landed! First an SG, #60, then a C, #65. We lost a PF.

Going to the Hawaiian Shootout.

CBS begins broadcasting.

9/25: We lose another big guy.

10/2: Practice begins.

Babe Ruth hits home run number 60.

10/6: The Jazz Singer opens and is a huge success. This signals the end of the silent movie era.

10/8: The Yankees win the World Series in 4 games.

10/30: We land a very good PF, #99.

11/13: Here's the lineup:

Junior B. J. Venn moves from SG to PG.

Soph Lin Jonn is at SG.

#3 guard is senior Jule Turr, who looks ready to contribute. Next is frosh Rob Holm whose D needs work. Then comes frosh Otis Thom who isn't ready. I should have red shirted him. Last guard is frosh Art Samm and he's not ready either.

Junior Jay Cage is back at Sf and again this season he figures to be our best player.

Junior Tom Maye is back at PF. He looks very good.

Senior Jim Andy started for the past 3 years at Arizona. He's a glass eater and a very solid defender.

1st big off the bench is senior Mark Geer who would start in a lot of programs. He won't hurt us when he's in the game. 2nd is frosh Reg Robb who is too good to be our #5 big. He'll start for us eventually.

Last is frosh Tom Caro, who is definitely not ready. I'm not sure he ever will be. So we're short up front.

The Holland Tunnel opens.

11/18: We beat Alabama badly in our opener. Later today it's #6 seed Sam Houston ST in the 1st round of the Hawaiian Shootout. We're #3.

We start fast. Up 15 after 10. 50-27 at the half. 16, 8 for C Jim Andy, 17, 3 for Maye. This one is a walk in the park.

82-68 but it wasn't that close. 29, 11, 3 for Andy, 22, 5 for Maye, 16, 6, 4 for Venn.

#2 seed Memphis, 1-1, in the semis.

11/19: Up 10 after 10. 52-34 at the break. 18 for Maye. We have a REALLY solid front court! Up 23 with 10 left.

92-71. 25, 7, 4 blocks for Maye. 15, 4 for Cage.

WE face our first real challenge in the final, #1 seed, #3 ranked Illinois. They're favored and their SG is an All American.

11/20: They take an early lead. We come back and we're up 2 after 10. 43-38 at halftime. 14 for Cage, 9 for Maye. This one is far from over though. Up 13 with 10 to play.

81-60. This makes me think we can challenge for the national title this year!

27, 3, 2, 4 for Cage, 14, 8, 3 steals for Maye. We owned the paint.

Not happy with 24 TOs but they also had 24. Sloppy game.

12/2: Ford begins production of the Model A.

12/11: 9-0. Ranked #8, NET #2. 5 easy wins including a win by 27 vs. #25 Florida.

Mark Geer missed 3 games with an ankle injury. Reg Robb got his minutes.

Cage leads us with 17.0, he gets 6.7 RBs. Andy gets 13.2 and leads in RBs with 8.7. 13.8, 6.8 for Maye. Powerful front line and the first two big guys off the bench are nearly as good.

+26 PPG, +14.1 RBs, a HUGE improvement over last season, + 5.2 assists, -4.1 TOs, but 13.3 is too high.

1/8/1928: 12-1. We lost at Cincinnati 75-80. A bad loss. We shot poorly and 3 starters were in foul trouble throughout the 2nd half.

We end pre-conf. play at 12-1, #13, NET #4.

+23.1 PPG, +10.0 RBs, -5.3 TOs (12.2).

Cage leads us with 16.5 PPG. 13.5 for Maye, 13.0 for Andy, 11.8 for Venn.

Jule Turr is going to get more minutes at SG. Lin Jonn is still starting but he's not really giving us what we need.

1/22: 3-1 start. We beat #1 UCLA at home, then #7 and #9, both on the road. We then lost to an #12 awayand beat #13 at home. Jonn got hurt in the last game and will misss a week and a half.

#10, NET #2, in a 3 way tie for 2nd, but it's early.

Turr is doing very well at SG.
