Young players rating imporvements

Young players rating imporvements

Postby Thefatcat » Wed Sep 25, 2019 6:56 pm

What is considered an average rating gain for a rookie completing his 1st season and completing TC in the his 2nd season. i'm not asking what makes them improve as i think playing time, work ethic etc will determine that. The reason i am asking is i have run multiple seasons in the sand box mode and i am seeing maybe 1 or 2 points overall across all players as an average? thanks

Some ratings you can get a few points over a season and TC, but some ratings move up slower. OVR probably only moves a point on average.

So thinking of Tom Brady as an example, he was taken in the 6th round. In this game i'd say he was about a 70 overall at that stage if that, yet he became a 99 i'd say. So if youngsters can only jump a point or two a year does this stop the likes of a Brady or a lower drafted player booming and become 90+ once he gets game time and training? thanks?

1-2 points a year on average... some young guys get great camps and can go up 20 rating points which can jump up overall by a significant amount. A 70 to a 90 over 4-5 years for a boom pick would be pretty attainable, but also pretty rare.

I honestly don't know the average. You could look at your overall team's training camp and add up the gains and losses but that may not tell you a whole lot. There are multiple variables that affect it: Age, Position, Specific Skill being evaluated, Training Camp Schedule, Coaching Staff, Player Work Ethic, Potential and some general randomness in the rolls.

To kinda piggy back off of this question, is this response above meant for just the individual skill ratings (arm, accuracy, speed, etc.) or does position rating (QB, for example) follow the same sort of development pattern? We are looking into creating a draft class for our online league and don't want to create a QB with a position rating of let's say 50, touting him as a raw, inexperienced prospect if that position rating is going to take 15 seasons to grow to a respectable level lol.

I don't have exact numbers, but if I'm recalling things right the skills will go up quite a bit more than attributes. The goal is to have highly skilled players after a few years of playing the position... certainly a lot faster than 15 years.
