Roster Editing

Is there any possible way to edit the ratings of players in the game or even to delete players altogether? I love the game but having Jamaal Charles, who hasn’t been productive in the NFL for like 5 years prior to his retirement, entering the game with a 97 overall just ruins the immersion for me. That’s just one example that sticks out but there are others.. Is it possible for me to edit this sort of thing?

Sure, click on the player and click edit. You can also drop the players from teams (maybe edit them to low ratings to prevent the CPU from picking them back up)

The quickest way would be to edit the JSON roster file using a text editor for code such as Sublime Text and simply deleting the players who've retired from the file... but if you're not familiar w/ messing around w/ JSON files or code, it may be best not to.

I'm actually working on Tigerman's 2019 roster file, myself, on the side right now. Currently, the file has a majority of the players who've retired since '17 still in the free-agent pool, so I've taken all the retired players out, including recently retired players like Luke Kuechly (as much as that absolutely breaks my heart as a Panthers fan), Eli Manning, and so forth.

Then, I'm going to go through every signed player and update the contracts to real-world salaries and correct years remaining based on what's listed over at Over The Cap and Sportrac. The only thing I won't be doing is adding new players, so if a player is on an NFL roster but isn't in Tigerman's roster file, I'm not going to be creating them because I have no idea how to properly gauge which ratings these players should have.

Tigerman probably has a better handle on the creation aspect for players, so I'm just going to let him handle that. I'm going to try and work w/ him on the contracts portion and keeping teams updated as the offseason goes on. Once I'm done, I'll post it up here.

However... this is likely going to be an all-offseason kind of project. As teams cut/trade/sign players in the offseason, I'll try to update their contracts as they come along which means it likely won't be ready until the preseason starts in August.
