Global / Local impact on playing online games

Greetings,

I am part of a group of new users to this software (thanks to the sale the other day). We would like to be able to "play" our games in an online multiplayer league. I am aware that this could only work in games against CPU.

Does Global Control vs. Local Control impact this ability to play games in an online league?

Or can you even play games in an online league? (Against CPU)

Real time calling plays (assuming thats what you meant) is only in single player.
