How important is player skill in the simulator?

Simple question, does anyone know how important player skill is when compared to other attributes during the simulation? I would have thought it to be very important, but it seems to have a minimal effect on overall rating of the players, so I'm not sure how much to value it.

If I have 2 corners, one with great physical traits but a low skill, and one with average physical traits but a high skill, which one will do better?

Physical traits are much more important.
