League settings to model the modern NFL

Well, looks like I'm in a narrow lane here, that's fine.

I have set aside my first FB20 career... got into a new season with only 22 players signed, and as I face the prospect of just building each season's roster by the unclaimed free agents, it seems like the game needs some meaningful tweaks in its financial/roster management side.

For now, I'll await the next patch, and see if there are moves toward this being a workable career sim with a cap/financial environment. If not, perhaps this just isn't the sim for that sort of audience. Not the end of the world if that's the central takeaway for me and my ilk.

We've increased # of years on contract for draftees. I'm not sure that by itself would fix your 22 player issue... that's more of an extension, sign free agent, draft pick kind of issue.

Thanks Quicksand and Brooks for digging into (or developing) this. I'm in the camp that would be eager to help out how I could to get this to mirror a modern-day NFL financial system. Obviously the game would need an update to the system as a whole, but I'm happy to do what I can in testing etc. to help out.

The last patch had some updates in it to get the default settings of a league to work better.

So... I've, uh, "been away from the game" a while. Any reason to reload and give it another go? Or, from the above, am I (as a guy who wants a modern football style management sim, instead of whatever this game is) just a square peg in these parts?

We've patched a few things in the game over the last few months, but we didn't revamp anything in the financial system.

Right now you have front loaded and back loaded contracts, penalties for dropping players to make more salary guaranteed, extensions, bonuses, and franchise tags.

But anything related to NFL rules on signing bonuses versus contract values versus Salary Cap Hit and Dead Space isn't in... neither is stuff like UFA, fines, and other CBA stuff I'm not thinking of.

I love the idea of having this type of post with people pitching in, but to complement the financial by focusing on statistical output.

So, in other words, what global settings of things such as -
* Rushing Yards Modifier
* Passing Yards Modifier
* Play call settings

Then the other major important set of figures that pops into my head that isn't an advanced setting is
* Min/Max for each rating per position

What would be awesome would be a set of values to plug in to the variables above depending on the era you want to stage your league in.
So you'd have a set of figures for modern day, then maybe like 90s, then 70s dead ball, then 50-60s, and so on
