New Game Start: No Draft?

So in opening the game I see the option to go with default rosters but then no way to turn off the draft. Is there a way to actually start with the default rosters?

Check the box for the players to be assigned to the team. If that box has disappeared change it to a historical league and then back again to get it to appear.
