Neutralize "AI Difficulty" factor - Very Important Question!

Neutralize "AI Difficulty" factor - Very Important Question!

Postby regenerator » Thu Nov 14, 2019 9:43 pm

I have asked this before in a different format, so I apologize, but this is so important to me -
Might be easier if I start out with how I want the game to function-

Just bc I call the plays in a game between two of my teams, I DO NOT want the game engine to run it any different than if the computer were controlling both teams.
Is this possible? If not, I will be very disappointed. Bc that is the essence of the kind of game I want to run - to me, all of the teams in my league are equally "my team" and the computer's teams. I do not want in any shape or fashion results to be skewed bc of some notion of "its me vs the computer - how hard is it to beat the computer??" This is totally irrelevant to me in this kind of game. I want to create teams with individual identities, then have them play each other with as realistic a set of results as possible. And I would like to be able to control one of the teams in some of the more important matches each week without warping the results even a little bit. I mean, obv the results will change bc of the plays I calll, etc. Ignore those things for the sake of the argument; or perhaps it is best said "All things being equal" i do not want any other variables to affect the game that are out of my control.
With things like "Increased AI Difficult", it makes me think that what I am wanting to see is not what I will get, that indeed if I control one of the teams in a game, the game AI/engine will have different results that if it were computer vs. computer bc of this idea of "me v. computer". Maybe if I click "Increased AI Difficulty", the team the computer controls will be more effective on offense, and score more points, while giving up fewer points, that if they were controlled by another player, or than if both team were computer controlled.
Does this make sense at all?
If so, can we please perhaps have an additional option next to "Increase AI Difficult" that reads "AI Netral" or something to that effect?

Most likely not. Pretty happy with how things are set up now. The AI Difficulty will affect CPU Teams, not human teams. If we completely turned of all CPU AI it would just be completely random and not realistic, which is definitely not what we want.

Wait I think you misunderstand.
Why would it be random? I just want the game to treat things as if two cpu teams are playing. I dont want the CPU to play me any different than it would play another CPU team. This way results are more realistic.
To me, when I think of AI Difficulty, I think of things like trying to "beat the boss" in a video game. I don't want the CPU to play any better or worse than the game engine, stats, etc, all the normal factors, would dictate.
Not turn off AI, turn off the AI being altered bc a team happens to be Human controlled.
I don't know how else to explain...sorry I know I'm not doing a good job.
Does this make more sense?

Anyone who does understand want to maybe help me out and expain it better than I have?

Increased AI Difficulty makes CPU Teams more aggressive in free agency, makes their coaches a bit better, etc.

So if you just want the default AI keep the box unchecked, but if you want the CPU a bit tougher to play against then check the box.

I think the miscommunication here is one person is talking about ingame AI and one person is talking about out of game AI.

regenerator is asking if the AI is different when you play out a game, or if it makes the same calls, etc. as if it was playing another AI team. I don't think he's asking about free agency, draft, etc. etc.

No, there is no difference in AI or CPU behavior between "Sim Game" and "Play Game"
