2026-2027 SEASON - MARCH

For the first time all season, we were faced with a rash of significant injuries. Marcus Donovan (Strained Knee), P.J. Washington (Sprained Wrist), Lee Askew (Bruised Sternum) and Steven Adams (Sore Arm) all missed considerable time during the month of March. With so many injuries I was forced to call up Viktor Florakis, Marcus Bosl and James Jackson from the D-league. This necessitated the conversion of Jackson's two-way contract to a regular NBA salary. Not the end of the world, but it did slightly increase our team salary for the year.

Ultimately, we finished the month with an outstanding 13-2 record, but that's the good news. The bad news is that Viktor Florakis can be added to the injury report and all of the above named players will miss at least some time in April. Worst of all, Donovan probably won't be back until just before the playoffs. There are six games left in the regular season and we'll need to go 5-1 to get to seventy wins. I'm not very confident we can do it with the current M.A.S.H. unit we currently have, but the schedule isn't terribly difficult...but I'm not holding my breath. Sure, it would be nice to record a seventy win season, but the ultimate goal is the NBA Title and our first order of business is to get healthy for the playoffs.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 1)

Not the way I would have liked us to start the first round of the playoffs. Charlotte is much better than their record would indicate and they have always been a thorn in our side. The game went back and forth, with twenty-eight lead changes and both teams shot right around 50% from the field, but it was our poor three-point shooting that cost us the game. Your not going to get away with going 8 of 33 from beyond the arc very often and tonight was no exception. The Hornets were simply the better team tonight and we need to play much better. Hopefully this was a wake up call, because this series was never going to be easy.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 2)

This was not a pretty game to watch, but we got the job done and head to Charlotte with the series tied a one game a piece. Statistically speaking, if you just look at our numbers, you probably would not have thought that we could have won the game. We only shot 41% from the field, 15% from three and 71% from the free throw line. During the regular season, you might get away with a poor game, but that is not usually the case in the playoffs. Fortunately for us, the Hornets played even worse, shooting only 37% from the field. I suppose you could make an argument that the two teams were deadlocked in a defensive struggle, but...I was there and I can assure you, it wasn't great defense that led to the low score. Let me just say this, we didn't get 62 rebounds by accident. There were a lot of bricks being laid.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 3)

In 2024 I traded our 2024 1st round pick, 2025 2nd round(WAS) and 2025 2nd round pick to the Houston Rockets for the rights to Justin McCuthison(C/Texas A&M). At the time, a lot of people were questioning that deal, but the McCuthison acquisition is really starting to pay off. McCuthison really blossomed over the off season and he really showed his abilities during the summer league. So much so, that he supplanted Steven Adams as the Bulls starting center. This season he averaged 20 ppg and 12.6 rpg. Last night he proved his worth yet again. McCuthison led all scorers with 29 points and he grabbed 20 rebounds with five blocked shots. McCuthison is only 22 years-old, but he has established himself as one of the league's best big men and we couldn't be happier to have him on the team.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 4)

What do you say after a game like that? We shot 38% from the field, 34% from three and for reasons that currently escape me right now, forgot how to defend. Specifically Tony Neeser. Neeser dropped 42 points on us, with 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Credit to the Hornets though, as they are one of the better defensive teams in the league, but we were cold right from the opening tip and it didn't get much better after that. The Hornets really ramped up their defense in the fourth and Tony Neeser was unstoppable. This is exactly how you get bounced in the first round and we cannot continue to have lackluster performances like this against this team. If we do, we'll be booking tee times and not hotel rooms for the second round.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 5)

We have only lost two home games this season. Once in the regular season to the New Orleans Pelicans back in November and most recently in game one against the Hornets. However, coach Starks had no intention of a repeat performance and the Bulls took control right from the opening tip, built a substantial lead and never looked back. It was a dominating performance and one of those games that can have a carry over effect going into the next game. It's hard for any team to bounce back after getting so thoroughly beaten, but if any team can do it, it's the Hornets. Let's hope that doesn't happen, because I don't want to see this series go seven games.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - FIRST ROUND (GAME 6)

Another dominating performance led by Justin McCuthison. McCuthison led all scorers with 27 points, 14 rebounds and was named the player of the game. With the victory we close out the ever dangerous Hornets and now face the Toronto Raptors in the second round. The Raptors have not made the playoffs since 2022, but after acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in free agency, the Raptors went from 32-50 to 47-35. Simply put, the team lives and dies with Giannis and we'll have to contain him if we are going to advance to the Conference Finals. The Raptors will be a tough opponent for sure, but I think they are less dangerous than the Hornets, simply because the Hornets have more weapons. Regardless, we can't take them lightly.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - SECOND ROUND (GAME 1)

We took our foot off the gas a little in the fourth quarter, but this game was never in doubt. Justin McCuthison scored 35 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and was once again named the player of the game. Toronto's point guard, Monte Morris, had his best game of the season in defeat, scoring 37 points, but Giannis was held to 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. As I said before, Giannis is the key to this team. If you can shut him down, they don't have much else to offer. Not even a career defining game like Morris's could make up for Giannis's lack of production. Let's hope we can continue this trend through the remainder of this series.

2026-2027 SEASON - PLAYOFFS - SECOND ROUND (GAME 2)

Another dominating performance by McCuthison as he scored 34 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and the Bulls easily cruised to a game two victory. One thing that does continue to concern me is the trend of taking their foot off the gas in the final period. I understand we had a big lead, but getting out scored 26-12 is not the way I'd like to see us close out games. However, a win is a win and I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Oh and if your wondering, Giannis was held to 14 points, 14 assists and 4 rebounds in 44 minutes of play. Shut down Giannis and you shut down the Raptors.
