All-Rookie First Team.....PF-David Stockman was selected. He deserved it!!!!

All-Rookie Second Team....PG-Damon Wilder was selected. He played 6 games for us and spent most of the year in the D-League. Only PG I guess.
Center-Kevin DeSantis was also selected.

I really thought I did a good job in Washington, but today I was let go.

We improved by 10 wins and we were building I thought one hell of a good team.

After just one season I was let go by the Washington Wizards.

I did some calling around, of course there were plenty of D-League teams wanting
a GM to run their teams.

However, I received a call from San Antonio and they WERE interested in hiring me. I met with
the top brass and we spent a couple days hashing it out. I really wanted this job, as San Antonio
was excited to hire me. I asked if my age (24) was a problem and they said NO, it was my track
record that they were interested in. They said that my work in Washington was what made them
call me and they had no idea why Washington would let me go.

San Antonio Spurs record this past year 34-48. They finished 12-games back in the West.

Taking a quick look at the Spurs roster (as this move caught me off guard and I was not ready) they
only have 7 players under contract. They have a really good Center in Bob Scholl. He is out with an
injury for 130 days. I hope he is back by the start of the season. Strong Forward Jimmie Riggs, the
only player on the books for next year. We have 3-Strong Forwards, 2-Power Forwards and 2-Centers.
We need some players!!!!

Getting ready for the draft, I noticed that we have ZERO draft picks in 1987. I go ahead and take a look at the draft
class so I am ready for anything. The draft begins........

Orlando picks 5th and they want to make a trade. We trade SF-Sidney Marquis (planning on being a backup for us) for
their 5th Round Pick and we take PG-Willie Mosley.

Then Utah wants to trade their 6th Round pick for PF-Caswell Harrington (a good forward but just not good enough to
start for us, I probably could use him but decide to trade for their pick) and I take another PG. We take (according to
all the draft reports a 4-star PG) PG-Justin Crowell. When he joins the team he is only a 2.5 star player. OK.

Then the LA Clippers call and they want a trade. They want to trade C-Alex Gayden (he will be our backup, very good
player) along with aging SG-Luis Greer (we will not keep him when his contract runs out this year) and we sent SF-Curtis
Keep. I like Curtis but getting a player as good as Gayden is, I could not pass it up. We are now VERY strong at the center
position.

Cap space we have 44+-Million to use on Free Agents. We could use a good SG and SF. We will see how it goes.
