Our next 5 games were at home. I guess we did not eat any of the home cooking.

Orlando 119 Wizards 108 C-John Bailey 8-14 and 6-6 Free Throws for 22points. James Mendez 16points.
Houston 114 Wizards 105 Ricardo Wall came off the bench to lead us...8-13 plus 5-7 3's for 21points. Houston
had 23 turnovers and we could not capitalize.
Brooklyn 108 Wizards 96 C-John Bailey was 10-16 plus 9-10FT for 29points. Rookie David Stockman had 19points.
Denver 103 Wizards 93 SG-Clifton Harvey was 9-16 and 8-11 3's for 27points. All 5 starters in double digits but shot 41.2%.
Milwaukee 106 Wizards 96 C-John Bailey was 10-14 for 23points and 11 boards. Milwaukee was one of the teams I thought
about joining as GM.

I guess I am going to have to have a talk with our coach before the 6 game road trip. This pace & space offense is just not
working and some of our players may need to change rolls before we go 0-81.

Here come the 6 road games. We did not fair too well at home so I am not thinking this early season
road schedule is going to be very good.

We open in Utah and lose to the Jazz 120-113.
Next the 0-8 Wizards visit the 5-3 Lakers and lose 116-89. Our PG-Axel Williams is hurt. Jammed finger
on his non-shooting hand. Out 3 days.
The 0-9 Wizards go to play the 5-5 Clippers and WIN...111-102. 63 second half points wins it for us.
C-John Bailey has 33points.
Next the 1-9 Wizards play in Phoenix and win 110-99. SG-Clifton Harvey goes 8-14 and 3-5 3's for 26poins.
Troy Hampton playing in place of Williams goes 8-14 and 4-8 from 3 for 22points. A 31-16 run in the 3Q helps.
The 2-9 Wizards next visit Portland and lose 122-114.
Then we travel to Detroit to take on the 7-5 Pistons and WIN....106-92. C-John Bailey has 25points and James Mendez has 20.

A 3-3 road trip and now we are 3-10. Hopefully our coaching staff is getting it together. I have a talk with Mr. Weaver
and we talk about we need to center the offense around C-John Bailey and PF-David Stockman. Defense we need to see
if our guys can defend straight up. He tries it and we go 3-3. Baby steps..........

After 13 games...………………………….

C-John Bailey 21.3 PPG - 8.5 RPG - FG% .545
SG-Clifton Harvey 14.3 PPG - 4.7 RPG - FG% .472
PF-David Stockman 13.6 PPG - 6.2 RPG - FG% .440
SF-James Mendez 10.9 PPG - 4.7 RPG - FG% .424
SF-George Hanavan 10.4 PPG - 5.4 RPG - FG% .383
PG-Axel Williams 7.8 PPG - 6.3 APG - FG% .394

Maybe we are starting to see some improvement.

Here are the next 8 games...……….

7-6 Heat lost to the 3-10 Wizards 118-116. 54points in the paint and C-John Bailey had 24points.
4-10 Wizards beat the 7-7 Heat 121-119. SG-Clifton Harvey had 38points.
9-7 Bulls beat the 5-10 Wizards 112-107. SG-Clifton Harvey had 32points.
14-4 Brooklyn Nets (the class of the league) loses to the Wizards 115-96. 62points in the paint.
6-11 Wizards then loses to the 6-12 Nuggets 102-93. We should have won this one. 19 turnovers.
6-12 Wizards beat the 8-9 Bucks 115-109. C-John Bailey had 22 and PG-Axel Williams had 19.
7-12 Wizards lose to the 13-7 Pacers 112-101. We had no defense in the 4Q to lose this one.
7-13 Wizards lose to the 10-10 Celtics 108-87. 38.8% shooting as a team. That will not cut it.

Here is what the Southeast Division looks like.......

Miami 11-10
Charlotte 10-10
Atlanta 8-14
Wizards 7-14 4 games out
Orlando 6-14

We are only 2.5 games out of being in the playoffs. Got to keep going and try to make the playoffs.
That is what we promised the brass with Washington.

Our next 5 games were not much better as we went 1-4. Several players are hurt or playing
hurt and that is not helping us. Here is a quick run down.

10-10 Hornets loses to the 7-14 Wizards 129-112. C-John Bailey scores 21 and Axel Williams adds 19.
We score 80points in the paint.
13-10 Clippers beat the Wizards 122-100. C-John Bailey held to 9points. Clippers shot 53.8% Wiz 44.7%.
8-15 Wizards lost to the 13-11 Houston 124-106. John Bailey held to 4points. David Stockman the rookie 29points.
8-16 Wizards lose to the 12-12 Knicks 123-108. I wanted to beat my former team. Knicks made 17 three's. The
Wizards goes 0 for 14!!
8-17 Wizards loses to the 17-9 Memphis 101-84. David Stockman, James Mendez and George Hanavan all hurt for this game.

Starting to feel my job slipping away. Thinking I need to make a statement trade to get this team in it!!!

I am not feeling good at turning this team around. Maybe I was too young to get into this business. The first time
I am really feeling the heat. I had two winning seasons with the Knicks and made the playoffs and still lost my job.
Now I can not get this team going. Feeling my job starting to slip away.

Starting to feel my job slipping away I knew that I had to make a move. We shopped many of our
players around looking for some stronger players.

We talked to the Philadelphia 76ers and we talked about a lot of different players and of course they
wanted our player with the most upside in David Stockman. Sorry, he is off the table. Everyone
else is on the table.

We have made a deal. The Washington Wizards will send PF-George Hanavan, 3rd string Center-
Darius Tinsley and our 1988 First Round Draft Pick, not next year but the year after to the 76ers
for SF-Reggie Davis who averages 16points per game for Philly.

Starting PG-Axel Williams, SG-Clifton Harvey, PF-David Stockman and C-John Bailey are all still
in place and we add SF-Reggie Davis who I think will be a strong addition.

I am hoping this trade will help in turning us around.

Our first game with SF-Reggie Davis came against the 16-10 Minnesota Timberwolves. I was wanting
the starting five ready to go but PF-David Stockman is still nursing a strained forearm and he was held
out of the game.

Sure hoping we are running on all cylinders.

Reggie Davis WAS for this game. Our new SF-Reggie Davis was 17-22 field goals and was 10-14 3's for 45points.
45 for his first game with us!!!!!! WOW. Backup guard Tony Hampton erupted off the bench for 10-11 shooting,
3-3 3's for 23points. The Wizards beat Minnesota 127-114.

GM-Walter Snethen is sure hoping this is a sign of things to come!!

Our next four games show us....that Reggie Davis can play and he was a really good pickup.

9-18 Wizards lose to the 14-13 Hornets 134-123. Reggie Davis had 30points. 29 personal fouls to 19. That hurt us.
13-14 Lakers over the 9-19 Wizards 112-105. Reggie David had 31points. 25 turnovers to 12 hurt us.
I talked with our head coach David Weaver after our loss tonight. He has been using the Seven Second offense
and a Passive defense. I asked him if we could change it up a bit. We went to a balanced offense and a attack defense.
The 9-20 Wizards beat the Magic 99-82. Reggie Davis had 27points.
The 10-20 Wizards then took on the 25-8 Brooklyn Nets and we lose 132-110. David Stockman had 22. Clifton Harvey had
21 and Reggie Davis had 18.

Reggie Davis played very well but as you can see the little things like fouls, turnovers and bad shooting is keeping us from
winning. Did I pick a bad coaching staff? Do I even have the players that can turn this team around. I might have to get
creative, cause what we are doing is not winning us games.

Before begging our next game we were hit with injuries from our last game. PF-Reggie Davis
and PG-Axel Williams both go down for 13 days. This is going to be tough. Our backups will
have to step up. Here is our next 10 games.

18-14 San Antonio 124 Wizards 122. SG-Clifton Harvey had 28points. C-John Bailey had 21points.
Guard-Troy Hampton came off the bench with 20. We just could not close the deal.
17-15 New Orlenas loses to the Wizards 114-104. PF-Jay Bryant replacing the injured Davis has 31points.
18-16 Atlanta beats the Wizards 102-95. C-John Bailey has 37points. Been a while since he was dominate.
18-16 N.Y. Knicks (I hate playing these guys now) beats the Wizards 136-119. PF-David Stockman has 24points.
11-24 Wizards beat Atlanta 104-100. SG-Clifton Harvey has 28points.
19-16 Detroit loses to the Wizards 112-97. David Stockman has 20points.
During this time that Williams and Davis are gone we do go 3-3.
16-22 Boston wins on the road at the Wizards 118-107. SF-Reggie Davis and PF-David Stockman each have 22points.
17-22 Portland takes it on the chin from the 13-25 Wizards 113-98. Reggie Davis had 25points, David Stockman and
Clifton Harvey each had 21points. John Bailey had 16points and Axel Williams had 12 assists.
14-25 beat the 11-27 76ers 106-89. Reggie Davis had 23points.
15-25 Wizards pulled one out beating 22-18 Chicago 111-110. C-John Bailey had 25points.

We go 3-3 without Williams and Davis and then with them we go 3-1. Last 10 games we go 6-4.

We are 3.5 games out of a possible playoff spot.
