Nickel DB not aligned with Slot WR

A quick from observations of the games I have played so far. The Nickel back (Nickel and 335) lines up on the opposite side of the field from the slot WR. This means they never actually cover the person you put them in to cover, making Nickel/335 heavily flawed as play calls.
