I am not sure how much stock to put into the 2D display. As a for instance, sometimes when I call a “cover 2” type defense, the safetys definetly do not cover the deep zones even on pass plays... many times they crash down towards the middle. I have been operating under the assumption that this is a result of them misdiagnosing the play.
How closely linked is the 2-D representation to what is actually occurring in the simulation engine?
Another example would be where I have a WR running free on the 2-D display and the QB instead puts the ball into a cluttered location. Is that just a display artifact, or a representation that a QB made a misread?
