Opening Game of the season won't Play/Sim

I'm on the demo and did download the latest patch but my first game of the season will not allow me to Play or Sim. It simply returns me to the page when I try. I've restarted the program multiple times. Any ideas?

I would first go to your depth chart and make sure it is legal. Redshirts or suspensions can cause the matrix to fill out incompletely. Either have the AI suggest all, or simply the sub matrix based on your depth chart, and then try to enter the first game.
