As a head coach, does my player development skills affect anything? I get wanting your assistant who runs practices to have good player development skills, but I put a lot of skills points into my coach’s player dev skills and I’m wondering if I was better off putting them into a different category. If so, what categories should I put my skill points into as a hc?

The head coach's ratings are a lot more important than the assistant coach ratings and reputation rating is more important than the specific area ratings so yes, Player Dev rating of the head coach is a big factor in how quickly and how much players' skills will develop,
