Walk-ons

I'm just picking up the game. I finished my first season, and signed 1 player to a scolarship for next season.
To further deepen my roster, I thought to add walk-ons.

How can I sign walk-ons to my roster? And within which period is this possible?
I can't figure it out

Walk ons are added to your roster automatically, early in the process (In June, I think). They fill the roster and are assigned by position, at the positions where you have the fewest players. You don't need to do anything, it will happen on its own.
