Play nullified by pass interference, no reason to then show

Postby regenerator » Sat Oct 10, 2020 10:39 am

I called a play, the defense was called for pass interference. Then, strangely, I was shown the animation of the play being carried out, after I knew it had no relevance or bearing on the game. This is not a good idea. Pls change to one of the following, preferably the first option:

1) If you're going to announce the penalty before the play has run, then dont show the now pointless animation; just move the ball as appropriate to the penalty yards and go to the next play.

or
2) Show the play, then announce the penalty, such as pass interference, AFTER the play animation has completed.

I agree, except the game engine doesn't support play "rollback" if a play happens but then didn't happen. So this was the best solution I could come up with. It is annoying, but it also enables user declined penalties which was the bigger request by users.

Wait, why can't we do this? -
Show the play, then announce the penalty, such as pass interference, AFTER the play animation has completed.

Because the engine needs to know if you accept the penalty before it "saves" the play... and saving the play is what makes it available to show... I can't save the play, then show it, then ask, then "unsave" everything that just got calculated.
