Creating new rosters - attributes questions

Postby Invisible Witness » Wed Dec 02, 2020 3:51 pm

I would like to create/update current rosters but I need some guidance here. I noticed that when CPU generates rosters players have different attribute max value depending on which position they play. For example CB's, RB's , DT's , SS's never have higher than 72 for Intelligence attribute or WR, TE & FS never have higher than 77. My question is if it's ok to rate them out of 99 instead without any "weird" effect on game play or I have to stick with those preset ranges depending on what position they play?
Second question is if I decide to be rating players out of 99 for each position will this be reflected when generating rookies/regens next year or their attributes will stay in those preset ranges that the game uses when creating new players? I'd like to avoid situation where I will have CB's and RB's rated in high 90's for Intelligence and the rookies "stuck" at 72 as their max. Please explain how it works.

The game generates players in certain ranges. If you edit players and increase ratings those are not taken into account when generating new players. Basically once you decide to start changing things it's on you to continue to change things for every draft class. There is a mass update tool in the options screens to assist with this.

And yes, going drastically outside of ranges will affect game results. Not that you can't offset it by changing sliders, etc. or offsetting ratings for other players, but in general we can't predict any specific results if you make these sort of mods.

Thanks for answer.
To follow up on this topic :
Since the game generates players in certain ranges( not always out of 99) would it be possible to know them ? Maybe add them on Player Card for each attribute so we know what the maximum value is. For example right now if you look at your Guard or Tackle the max value in Pass Blocking attribute is 87. I never knew that. I thought it'd be out of 99 so when I saw Guard with 87 I thought his pass blocking is good but not an elite if he were 99. Or let's say TE's Hands attribute. The max value is 90 but I have no way of knowing that right away. I'd have to memorize it.

There aren't any maxes in the game. It's still out of 100, and having a guy with a 100 in a rating will make them a better player... if you do it specifically it should be fine, but if you say add 13 points to every DL's strength, then you'd have a problem. Players also go through training, so over time it's possible for players to hit those higher numbers in some attributes.
