Declining Holding Penalty Still Gives Auto 1st down

Declining Holding Penalty Still Gives Auto 1st down

14:22 1st and 10 Mia - 36 Tagovailoa, T. is SACKED by Andre Smith - LB for -10 yds. CAR 0 - MIA 0
13:51 2nd and 20 Mia - 26 Pass by Tagovailoa, T., complete to Gesicki, M. for 12 yds. Tackle by Thompson, S..
Automatic First Down! CAR 0 - MIA 0

There was a defensive holding penalty called on this play and I was offered the choice of taking the 5 yards for the penalty or the 12 yards for the play.

I forgot about the auto 1st down, so I thought the choice would be between
3rd and 8 - declining the penalty and taking the play
2nd and15 - accepting the penalty and canceling the play

I decided to take the play and decline the penalty.

The game gave me the yardage off the play but also gave me the auto first down from the penalty.

Nice for me!
But not quite right. :)

Ok thanks, I'll check on the penalty logic... been a couple of issues with it recently.
