First time player - comments, questions, suggestions

Postby SteW » Sun Dec 13, 2020 12:58 pm

Hi, as per the title, this is my first time playing DDSPF, and I have a few comments, questions, and suggestions.
(some of this may just be me not knowing how to do things, please let me know if that's the case)

First of all, I can't find any sort of user guide. Having never played before, and being new to NFL, I just don't know what some of the options do. I set up a new league by just choosing the name for it.

When setting up the GM, I didn't know what the stats do, or if they do anything. What's to stop me just giving myself 10 for everything?

The first thing I have to do is trim down my playing roster to 53 players. It'd help if there were checkboxes or something, so I could select multiple players to send to the practice squad all at once.
Also, does my practice squad need to be set up as a 'proper' squad? eg. could I have a practice squad with no QB? Would that affect the WR for example? Can they practice with no-one to throw them the ball?

When I move a player to the practice squad, the roster list reverts to the default layout. That's really annoying. I'm moving the weakest players in each position to the practice squad, I can't do more than one player at a time, and every time I move a player I have to resort the roster.

You can wait a while before you reduce your roster numbers. Play your preseason games. Make your cuts before the first real game of the season. If you go to League Media / Teams it will show you the player counts on all the other teams. You can sort of follow what they do.

Practice squad is just a sort of holding area where you can store a few players that aren't on your starting team. You don't have to form a "team" out of them or anything. In real football the practice squad practices together with the real team - they don't have to be a functioning unit on their own.

Bring lots of syrup, I never realized so much of it was used in the NFL.
