Morning all,

Longtime (and I mean back to the days of the hogs and the counter-trey) NFL fan and long time sports career mode player - but this is my first dip into DDSPF, so I have a couple of likely boring questions that I hope you will look kindly on and hopefully save me some time too....

1. Cant seem to find any form of initial set-up guide, so any hints and tips from the veterans would be greatly appreciated.
2. I'm a great lover of applying mods (played Football Manager since day 1) - I've downloaded the real world mod, but what other mods would people recommend?

Welcome to the family

Setup wise, there are two main things to consider:

1) game mode
Sandbox is "god" mode, where you can change anything on any team
Career is normal single player mode, where you are in control of your team. If you want to control everything on your team (both roster management and strategy/playcalling), you want to enable "global" control as well in the league setup.
Online mode, combines the two - where commish has 'god' access and coaches have access to teams - this i probably irrelevant for you right now - we do strongly recommend joining one of the excellent online leagues - people there are also very helpful with tips and tricks (although those league are also very competitive, so expect some tough sledding win-wise)

2) roster allocation
If you want to use the real players on the real teams, be sure to selct "assign to team - starts with free agency" when setting up the league.

In terms of finances, people have different preferences - you can find some discussions here on the baord about what settings people prefer.
