First Access - Opening Thoughts and Suggestions

Ah, I didn't realize this when I ran through my first season, it allowed for making trades through the AI so I assumed draft would end up working out. Is this something that can't be changed?

Click the hamburger menu in the upper left and choose Options - there is an option to sort the dashbord by position and not by last name

-2D in game is great, I wish we could see season player stats during the sim. Is it possible with a mouse over or anything like that?

If you go to the sub/strategy screen all players there can be clicked on to bring up their player cards and see their season stats

- During the 2D play, it is not always easy to see instantly if a shot was made or missed, unless you read the text, which goes fast. (Or listen to the audio, which I sometimes have off). Maybe a different color could fix that.

The ball will temporarily disappear if the shot is made while it will bounce off the rim if the shot is missed - maybe turning down the speed one notch might help?

- Stats of player show PBL Season instead of the team for the current year.

Yes, it does that because if a player is traded it will show the stats for that season both as a running total and what he did just for the team he was on prior. When the season ends the stats will change and show the team name so if he plays for Detroit it may say PBL Season this year but once the year ends then the prior year will say Detroit while the current year says PBL Season

Thanks for the clarification. Am really enjoying the game so far. Recreating a historical season is surprisingly fun and I will surely continue my 97/98 league even after the current day roster and such is released. Is it possible to export stats to a text file somehow?

You can create HTML files from the commissioners office and there is a specific option to dump game stats to a database file as well

Is there a idiots guide to what exactly the HTML files look like or what all they include?
Please give us a light skin UI option for all games. A Clone of the 2021 themes would be perfect!

The HTML files contain pages for each individual team for their team info, contracts, roster info, ratings, depth, stats and schedule. There's also league pages like standings or free agent list and individual player cards can be generated as well

It seems to me the final scores are a bit too high, both in sim and in 2D. Seeing 130-140 scores in a game is quite common. I also see some players getting 60-70 points a game on a regular basis. Is there any way to adjust this? Pace doesn't seem to affect it.

When I look at the team scoring average for the entire year, they seem to be in line with real world NBA, maybe even a little less When I typically see higher scores, overtime is involved. Looked at individuals scoring high in that same season, I had (0) in the 70's, (2) in the 60's, and about (16) players score in the 50's, didn't seem excessive to me but I don't know real world stats for that.

Not saying the issue doesn't exist, but Gary will likely need more detail and better yet get your actual league files (look at the HELP screen within the game how to submit). Is this an off season start? Fictional? Historical Season? etc.

First, define "common"

Second, in this past season alone there were 31 games in the 40 days of season (OCT/NOV) where a team scored 130 points or more in regulation including a game that was 159-158. I just simmed a season in PB21 and there were 29 games with a team scoring 130+ in regulation through the end of November and in DDSPB the season starts like 5 days earlier as well. I know it seems shocking at first glance but this is today's NBA. Every single team averaged more than 100 PPG this season and last season. You have to go back to the 2015-16 season to find a year where more than two teams averaged less than 100 PPG.

Here's the NBA ones from this season OCT/NOV

Maybe I should have added it is an historical season I'm running now. What I noticed is Karl Malone having resp. 73 and 62 points in his first two games, and most scores are between 120-140. Not saying that is ridiculously high, it just seems a bit over from what I remember it to be, although I think present day scores are higher than they were back then. Of course it's a small sample size, so it will probably even out.

Yes that's quite remarkable. Didn't know there were so many (non OT) high scores past season. Look at that 159-158 Rockets-Wizards game, wow. It is more noticeable in my season because I play a 97/98 league when scores were usually lower.
