Player Salaries

Hi!

I'm currently playing a Fictional game. Before I got on a team and started to actually "play" the game, I wanted to create a fictional league history, so I started in 1984 and have been simulating seasons to get me to present day.

To more accurately depict the fictional league history, I would update the salary and luxury cap every year (on June 18th to be exact). So in 1984, my game's starting salary cap was at $3,600,000 and starting luxury cap was at $4,727,000. One of the things I noticed while simulating the various seasons is that yearly player salaries rarely exceed $1,400,000 a year. So in 2009, for example, the salary cap is at $57,700,000 and the luxury cap is at $69,920,000, but the no player has a yearly contract over $1,500,000. Even the superstars. The Free Agency salary demands are also less than $1,500,000 a year. This has caused all the teams to be 30 - 40 million under the cap.

Am I doing something wrong? Whenever I update the salary and luxury caps in the Commissioner screen, I always make sure to press "Update Options", so I'm not sure what exactly is happening.

paolo - Make sure you've enabled "Allow Salary Cap Increases" under the League Options section of the Game Options menu. Even though you're manually updating the cap, I don't believe it takes hold for game purposes unless that button is enabled. Note: You're still going to have to manually update on June 18th as you currently do, so that you ensure the exact cap and luxury tax values that you want. Otherwise the cap will continue to raise at it's own rate.

That was the problem! Enables "Allow Salary Cap Increases", and it's now all good. Thanks!!
