How do I create a custom roster set?

Is there a way I can enter either stats or attributes into an excel file or something & create a custom league roster file that would be available upon starting a new league? Right now, I'm using the in game editor & manually editing every player by hand. I'm not experienced with creating mods, but if someone can walk me through the steps, I'd be willing to give it a go.
