Nickel Position Subtitutions

Nickel Position Subtitutions

Postby medical3072 » Sun Feb 14, 2021 12:40 am

I'd like to have my starting strong safety (SS1) play nickel linebacker (NB1) in sub packages and have my SS2 fill in for him at SS1 in those situations. Is there a way to arrange the depth chart for that to happen?

Right now I have it set up such that my SS1 is listed at both SS1 and NB1, but when I 'View Formation' for 3-3-5 defense, for example, it shows the same player starting in both positions (SS1 and NB1). Presumably the game will sub in the second stringer for one of those positions; does it sub in SS2 and leave my SS1 in the nickel, or does it leave my SS1 at safety and sub in NB2 for the nickel role? Hope my question makes sense...

Thank you!

NB will replace LB3 or LB4 in the different formations.

I have my SS1 listed on the depth chart as SS1 and NB1. When I 'View Formation' in sub packages, he shows up twice (see below). In this scenario, does his backup at strong safety get subbed in, or does his backup at nickel get subbed in since he obviously can't play two positions at once.

Since NB1 gets evaluated before SS1 he'll play NB1 and your backup SS1 will play.
