When will redshirting make a player transfer?

I'm in the redshirt stage of my second season. I've got some really good freshman players that I'd like to redshirt for a year so they can develop even more, but I don't want them to transfer away. How do I know if that's more likely with a certain player or not?

Since questions so rarely get answered on here, is there a manual for the game somewhere? I can't find one.

some of the devs live in texas, and have had other things to worry about these last couple of days...

and to answer your question: There isnt a huge amount of transferring, so you its advisable to usually just redshirt based on who you want to develop. That said, pay attention to their 'values playing time', look at if the ones ahead of them on the depth chart are just as young, or likely to graduate. Check of their values for 'loyalty' and security are low.
