I have a suggestion to make...and I am not the first one to do so. But...for the love of my and everyone's eyes, who like to play in the evenings. Can we get a less eye-burning and blinding UI-Mode?

You may try the skins from this thread. Just put them in the DDSCF21 folder instead of the DDSPF21 one.
