Newb - Where To Start

Hey hey. With the college football season starting up, I've been getting the itch to play a sim GM/Coach/Manager style college football game. I used to play Gridiron Dynasty over on WhatIfSports all the time and had a pretty decent run as the 1AA (yeah, it was a while ago) coach at Delaware (https://www.whatifsports.com/gd/TeamProfile/History.aspx?tid=50048). So anyway, I went searching for a game and just happened to stumble upon this site.

I just watched the 20 minute video on the First Look and New Features from back in January and the game looks amazing, so I'm pretty hyped to jump in, but I'll probably force myself to hold off until the 2021 version hits. If you were going to give some advice to yourself when you first started, what do I need to learn and focus on first?
