2022 # of Teams

Was looking at this NCAA season and it seems like there is 358 teams (adding St. Thomas of MN). Was just curious if that would be the correct amount of teams projected to be in the upcoming DDSCB 22 game? Thanks. Looking forward to hearing about the new and improved college game.

I think 358 is correct w/ St Thomas and TX A&M-Commerce moving up this year, and Hartford going D3 starting 2022. Chicago St announced they were leaving the WAC, but I haven't seen anything beyond that. Maybe they pull an NJIT and go independent for a year if they can't catch on somewhere else?

You would think the NCAA would cap the # of teams for division 1 and then just subtract and add the same amount each year (if there's teams that do or don't belong). With only 1 extra coming in this year, it seems like it might be naturally tapering off, but who knows. I can't imagine 400 teams in 20 years, but then again, I don't think people imagined 350 plus, that long ago. I do like 358 over 357 because the uneven amount bugs me.
