Possible Issue twith OT Kicking Extra Point

I had always thought in OT, there wasn't a need to kick the extra point. In this game, the first team to possess the ball kicked FG. Then the next team scored touchdown. don't believe extra point should have been attempted unless I am incorrect on the rule. In other OT games in my league, if the team first gets the ball and scores TD, they don't try and extra point.
