Mentoring

I had a linebacker mentor a young linebacker. Eventually, I got the message saying the player no longer needs mentoring of what have you.

Next season, I draft another linebacker, and try to mentor the rookie with my mentor linebacker. When I click assign, nothing happens.

Can a mentor only mentor one player in their career?
