Yeah, I too think the LBs should be separated between inside and outside. Now this is my first year with DDSPF so unless the game forces you to use players at only their rated position I'm not seeing how this would restrict human players to play whoever they want where ever they want? If you want to play your MLB outside have at it. Want to move that OLB to MLB? Go ahead. As noted this is no different than categorizing offensive linemen or defensive backs. Let users play these guys out of position but in their group if they want.

I have no understanding how the Watt example is an extreme example? Calling Mwillieams01 example "hyperbole", to me, seems more like a technique to disparage his legitimate argument. We wouldn't be changing this to only correct star players that are out of position, would we?

There is an option in the game to play anyone anywhere.

Not to mention that you can switch player’s positions. I also think position skills need to be more diversified.

Playing a player in a position where they have below 45 position skill is massively penalized, and the effects are strong even above that. Just to clarify for those of you who are newer to the game mechanics.

This is exactly the point. You can already play players anywhere if you wish or if you lock it in the options LB can still be lined up differently with multiple depth chart schemes and weightings in the playbook formations to make sure your LBs are in the right place based on scheme or their ratings. To suggest having multiple LB roles limited but another set of positions types doesn't actually help your problem here it hinders it.

My advice would be go and look at depth chart options and playbook options and set your LBs around this. It is what every multiplayer league has been doing since ddspf16 and works just fine to enable the right LBs to be in the right position.

Personally I would rather they fix depth chart formation types before anything you have suggested for LBs is considered as having my DE not on the right place on a 3 man front is more of an issue than me moving a LB to the right place.

Yea, the depth chart issue should be resolved in those 2 formations.

But otherwise there are no plans to introduce additional positions. We also already have traits for "specialists" that you can use to further differentiate players... and we can certainly expand on those if we need to. But I definitely appreciate the discussion on it as it may trigger ideas or other facets of the game we can improve.

So In other words, This isn’t a single player game.

I would say that at all.

Honestly I think you are asking the wrong question form a SP perspective. What you want is better AI decision making in where LBs go based on ratings and formation set.

Read this hold thread and dang man, that's quite a leap you just made from the responses from others and Brooks. I don't understand how you could get that impression at all...unless of course you are just being butt hurt. :D

I have no skin in this thread because I'm not sure how it matters.. but I bet many people who like to play single player would agree with the sentiment this is a game meant to be simulated. That isn't a knock on the game because, I'm sure, there are tons of people who enjoy that..and maybe how it was intended? The only leap was, maybe, the timing/thread.

Hello again.

Can all of you who feel there should be a distinction between ILB and OLB please explain your idea of what the difference is between the two, that we need to create a specific distinction between them?

Thank you.

PS - Those of you who disagree with this, can you please give them a day or two to explain their opinion before responding? There are SEVERAL that want this... let them explain themselves first, please. Thank you.
