Weird QB Logic

Please tell me why the QB on this play decides to throw the highly contested deep cross body throw instead of running for the free 10-20 yards on this play. I have QB runs turned all the way up hoping it would fix this but it doesn't.

Mainly because it's a called pass play and he's not under any duress... if there were defenders collapsing on him he may have gone into scramble mode and taken off.
