Draft

Draft

Just completed my first draft.
Noticed the overall ratings of the players appears quite low in general. Typically 60 to low 70s, even for first round, second round talent.
So unfortunately, they all end up on the practice squad typically.
You can typically sign free agents for league minimum which are 75+, so these guys will never get a chance.
They also don't seem to develop at all on the practice squad. Ratings never increase.
Was hoping either that
1) Rating gets a bump. Too many first, second and third round talent, that has random ratings, like an F for tackling or speed or strength for DLine, or blocking for Oline, etc.
2) Growth in the first to third years should be significantly higher than later years, in order to compensate for their low early ratings.
There should be some sort of potential ceiling we should be able to see. For instance, in the football manager games, they have a current overall and a potential overall, which could be a range number (i.e. 75-85) to judge its boom / bust potential.
For instance in the real world pre draft, we all feel Mac Jones ceiling is limited, whilst his current overall is probably higher than Trey Lance. But Trey Lance's ceiling is far higher than Mac Jones. Also he could bust our lower than Jones as well if he doesn't develop.

You can adjust league and training camp development settings under league option. I would recommend bumping thisnup if you want development the default is pretty flat

We've chosen not to display the potential ratings so that people have to evaluate performance in camps, scouting reports, and coach insights to try and find the guys who are capable of drastic improvements.

One of the best bits about the game is this design choice imo

Do you mean that the potential ratings are predefined and we need to figure it out in camps etc or does it mean that there is no predefined potential rating and progression is rather random?
