Using Fictional Player for testing however the problem also seems to be present while using Real Players. Here are some examples from some testing:
T.Wormley-
https://imgur.com/72QnUwHhttps://imgur.com/He6i42xLooking at his profile he has a 7 for inside shooting and a 1 for outside shooting. Not really a good shooter. However, looking at his Ball Actions by Percentage, 9% of his actions are pull up shots and 5% are catch and shoot while post up shots are only 6%. His Floor Range also shows majority of his shots (76%) are midrange and above the break threes. Also shot 0/63 from the corner and took a nice chunk of his shots from the top of the key, which is not a shot you want any player taking especially not a poor shooting center.
C.Griffin-
https://imgur.com/uVZFV29https://imgur.com/r6PDswpHe has a 9 for inside shooting and a 7 for outside shooting. A respectable shooter. Majority of his shots are coming from midrange shots and above the break threes. Looking at his shot chart he's clearly a terrible midrange shooter but a nice chunk of his shots are coming from there. Like Wormley, he is also taking a lot of shots from the top of the key, probably one of the most inefficient shots in all of basketball. He's also terrible inside the paint (Non-RA) which is not something you see from centers.
A.Cundiff
https://imgur.com/VqJi6G1https://imgur.com/4MjfPNb9 for inside shooting and 4 for outside shooting. Like the previous centers he is taking way too many shots from the top of the key. He's also terrible within the paint (non-RA) and shot 9/126 from the corner.
R.Barnes-
https://imgur.com/wabRqtohttps://imgur.com/m3nufkO8 for inside shooting and 6 for outside shooting. He's terrible in the paint (non-RA), from mid-range and from the corner. He's surprisingly good from the top of the key but you really don't want your players taking a whole lot of shots from that area especially when the three-point line is a couple of feet away.
Conclusion: Some Centers have really wonky shot charts and many are taking a lot of shots from the top of the key despite it being the most inefficient shot in basketball. Some Centers are also shooting quite poorly within the paint.
